Katy Perry Shares Postpartum Pic In A Nursing Bra & We Thank Her For Keeping It Real AF

A flamboyant bodycon to flaunt that baby bump, the postpartum kaftans, and the delicious glow: Doesn’t pregnancy look absolutely glamourous on tabloid covers and celeb social media? And, yet we know there’s so much more to it. Also, it’s not always that rosy! Irrespective of that we keep being served uber polished pictures of pregnant celebs as we go gaga over their ‘maternity style’ while feeling slightly (or super) anxious that we may probably never hit that level of ‘yummy mummy.’

Take, for instance, Gigi Hadid’s recent maternity photoshoot and glorious pictures. She looks like a Goddess, we know fam! But what we also know is that it’s a lot of pressure for many expecting mothers out there. I mean, I don’t know about the rest of you but these pictures make me really, really anxious. I perhaps won’t even care about the clean-swept hair and surely not about the right kind of breezy silhouette, with the right kind of layers to flaunt that baby bump. And this is why Gigi’s better than perfect photoshoot is a huge narrative gap for me.

Well thankfully for everyone who agrees with me here, Katy Perry recently came to our rescue and served us some much-needed reality with her postpartum pictures. As you might be aware, Katy recently gave birth to her daughter Daisy Dove Bloom. Dressed in her nursing bra and postpartum underwear, the singer decided to give us an insight into what motherhood looks like. Here’s the pic:

“Hair and makeup @exhaustion,” she jokingly wrote in the picture, and truth be told, as much as we are relieved, we are also in awe! By the way, Katy looks no less of a Goddess in her raw glory as she keeps it absolutely real and unfiltered.

Even earlier while announcing her daughter’s birth on Instagram, Katy had shared a very insightful caption that threw light on the struggles of motherhood and how everyone is not privileged enough to have a polished, professionally assisted, and tabloid-worthy pregnancy.

She wrote “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter. But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.”

Even during her pregnancy, Katy had shared another picture of her lounging in a maternity store and wearing a loose sweatshirt, yoga pants, and what looked like ‘plushy-soft’ footwear. Here, take a look:

Well, kudos to the queen for keeping it real. Here’s hoping that this inspires more celebs to get a little real with their pregnancy journeys and new moms to embrace their bodies just as they are: real and beautiful!
