Throwback To When 16-Year-Old Karisma Kapoor Shut Down The Media!

The Kapoor khandaan has given us some fantastic actors, and the world will be eternally grateful. Karisma Kapoor, who ruled the 1990s and early 2000s, is one such star. Lolo was literally a Y2K sensation!

The Kapoor sisters have always been known for their confidence and “no bullshit” attitude. We’ve seen a lot of videos where Kareena has been absolutely #savage with her responses. But, little did we know that she got it from her older sister! I came across this video of a 16-year-old Karisma, shunning the media after they asked her a silly question about her family.

In an interview from 1991, Karisma was asked how she managed to become an actress since girls from “Raj Kumar’s khandaan” aren’t allowed to act. Lolo had a simple yet sassy response. She said, “It’s a choice.” She also added that most of the men in her family had married actresses, so why would they object to their daughters becoming actresses?

Karisma Kapoor’s Bollywood Journey

Karisma began her acting career at the age of 16, with Prem Qaidi, that released in 1991. She then went on to play the leading lady in a string of box office smashes! She cemented her status by starring in five of David Dhawan’s comedies, and the audience loved her chemistry with Govinda.

She took a sabbatical from acting after the television soap opera Karishma: The Miracles of Destiny (2003–2004). She has acted in a few films, including the thriller Dangerous Ishhq (2012) and the web series Mentalhood (2020). Karisma is making a comeback with Zee Studios’ Brown, which is based on Abheek Barua’s 2016 book City of Death. Brown is the only Indian show to make it to the Berlin Series Market Selects platform.

Well, I certainly miss watching Karisma Kapoor on screen. Watching Brown as soo as it releases on OTT!
