If there’s one thing we all love, it’s a good Bollywood film, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is undoubtedly one of those gems. However, one character in the movie often gets a bad rap: Natasha Arora, played by Kalki Koechlin. But hold on a second, is she really as bad as we made her out to be? We all have opinions, but I’m here to tell you she’s not the villain she’s made out to be. In fact, Natasha deserves a bit more credit, and here’s why I think so.
Is Expecting A Commitment Really That Wrong?
Sure, Natasha’s approach to getting a proposal out of Kabir (Abhay Deol) might have been a tad unconventional. But let’s not forget that after being in a long-term relationship, it’s natural to expect some commitment. Both of them had known each other since childhood, their families were close, and they were both pretty settled. If Kabir had doubts about their relationship, maybe he should have voiced them a little earlier.
She Deserved Bagwati!
Another famous character from the film was Bagwati, the Birkin bag! While Imran did make a big deal about Kabir wanting to gift his fiance such an expensive bag, I don’t see anything wrong with that. Yes, it might seem like she’s all about the bling, but come on, she knew what she wanted, she also had the cash to get one herself, and she definitely had the confidence to flaunt it. You go, girl!
Over-Possessive or Justified?
Let’s talk about the over-possessive tag. Picture this: You’re flying across the globe to surprise your fiance, and you stumble upon him carrying another girl “bridal style” while being covered in smashed tomatoes. Seriously, how would you react? I’d probably do more than just toss a handbag. Natasha’s restraint is commendable and she actually didn’t react as much as one would expect.
Is Being Poised A Crime?
Remember the restaurant scene? Natasha asked Imran (Farhan Akhtar) to behave when he was purposely teasing the Spanish waiter in Hindi. What’s wrong with that? She was simply not as frivolous as the others. She was poised, elegant, and sophisticated, which set her apart from the others. Being more refined doesn’t make her a bad person; it just means she has a different style.
Can We Let The Hot Chick Just Rock In The Hard World?
Okay, showing up at her fiance’s bachelor trip might not have been the best move, but she was there for just a day to spend some quality time with her man. Can you blame her for that? And how about that iconic car singing moment, where she belts out “I’m a hot chick in a hard rock world”? That’s the spirit we’re talking about. Let’s not forget that even when she was having fun, she became the target of jokes. Let the girl enjoy her jam!
Unpopular Opinion: Natasha Deserved Better
I strongly feel that Natasha deserved better than a man who was unsure of her and couldn’t stand up for her in front of his friends. I’m glad that she did find her happiness in the end. So, the next time you watch Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, remember Bagwati, tomato showers, and hot chick anthems. Natasha isn’t the villain – she’s just a woman who embraced life her way.
In the words of the movie, “Seize the day, my friend!” Natasha did just that, and she did it with style. Give her that second chance she truly deserves!
