A few years ago, my BFFs and I made a pact to go on a road trip when one of us gets married. Obviously, we were inspired by one of the best Bollywood movies of all time, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. I’m pretty sure that we were not the only ones. Speaking about ZNMD, it’s still one of the best travel-based films ever made, don’t you agree? The picturesque locations, the perfect star cast, the jokes, the dosti—this film is the entire package, if you ask us!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since the movie hit theatres in 2021. Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of the blockbuster hit and the actors of the movie —Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, and Katrina Kaif along with director Zoya Akhtar celebrated it in a very special way. The dream team came together for a fun digital reunion where they re-enacted a few popular dialogues. They also revealed whole lotta secrets about the scenes and the movie that we would’ve never been able to guess!
First things first, Katrina Kaif who played Laila, a part-time scuba driving trainer in the movie, revealed something shocking about her role. She said, “I was terrified. Everyone else was semi-pro divers. When we were shooting that underwater sequence where Hrithik has that epiphany, what was happening was that I was digging my nails into his hand because I was so scared. It was my first diving experience like that.”
Hrithik also opened up about the diving scene and said, “The water was freezing, and I was protecting myself from the cold. So I was pretending to come out of it. The shot starts with me on the ladder of the boat. Finally, I said that’s what is making me hold back. I am not allowing myself to be impacted by the water. In the final take, I just went in.” He also added that he froze for a moment when he came out and that worked well for the scene.
That’s not all, the Super 30 actor also divulged that he had an aversion towards tomatoes for a long time after the La Tomatina festival. He said, “I didn’t have tomatoes for three or four months. None of us could tolerate the presence of a tomato after (Ik Junoon) song. The kind of smell that we suffered,” he confessed. The cast revealed a lot of secrets and trivia related to the movie and you can watch the entire video here.
We can’t stop thinking about Kat’s confession. It’s hard to believe she was scared of scuba diving cause she portrayed her role effortlessly. Anyway, all this ZNMD talk is making me watch the movie for the hundredth time so I guess that’s what I’ll be doing tonight.
