If You’re Trying To Stick To A Skincare Routine And Failing, Read This

Building a skincare routine that works for your skin is daunting, that is till you actually reach the consistent application part. Like every skincare newbie, we’re guilty of having fallen off the bandwagon many times. But, we’ve got some good, tried and tested advice and we’re here to pass it on. So, here’s a complete guide on how to stay on track when it comes to following a routine.

If you’re someone who thinks skincare is a chore, read on…

Go back to the basics

I don’t know who needs to hear this but you don’t need an extensive 10-step skincare routine just because everyone on the internet says you do. First, consult a dermatologist to figure out what exactly you need to use and then stick to just that. Everybody’s skin is different, and chances are, aimlessly dabbling in skincare and using too many products will do you more harm than good.

Set reminders

Establishing new habits is challenging but think of skincare as a form of self-care and remind yourself that you’re doing it for yourself. Set reminders: it can be a post-it on your mirror or an alarm on your phone.

Use multitasking products

Products that do more than one duty will help you to cut down on the number of steps in your skincare regimen. For example, if you’re using a cleanser, make sure it is gentle but effective. Does it also double up as a makeup remover? Does it get rid of all the grime that may have accumulated on your face during the day, without stripping skin dry? Does it hydrate your skin? Take all these factors into consideration so you can eliminate other extra products from your routine.

Take before and after pictures

Just the way #fitnesstransformation pictures help you to look back on your fitness journey, taking before and after pictures of your face will serve as motivation on the days you feel like slacking. Plus, over time these pictures will help you to figure out if a product is working for you or not.

Keep things handy

Instead of keeping products tucked away in a cupboard, place them together in a tray, preferably where you can see them. If your skincare is staring at you every time you walk into the room, chances are you will feel guilty enough to not skip your routine every day/night. Remember, out of sight, out of mind!
