6-Step Guide To Shaving Your Pubic Hair For A Smooth Bikini Line

6-Step Guide To Shaving Your Pubic Hair For A Smooth Bikini Line

Shave or don’t shave—your pubic hair philosophy is for you to choose. However, if removing your pubes is important for you, there’s something you need to know. It’s not as simple as running your razor back and forth to remove the hair from your pubic mount and vulva. After all, these are extremely sensitive and well, not-so-accessible regions. We can attest that careless shaving here can lead to irritation, redness, and unsightly ingrowns. Worse still, you can get a razor burn or a cut that can turn into a site for infections like STIs and bacterial vaginosis. Ouch!

But hey! You can save yourself from all these horrors by shaving your pubes the right way. We’ve broken it down into six easy steps for you. Take a look:

Step 1: Chop The Crop

If you’re looking to give your long pubes a makeover, start by trimming them with a pair of sterile scissors/ electric trimmer. Longer hair can get stuck in the razor, making it difficult to remove in one fell swoop. Cut ‘em down to a quarter of an inch and you’ll be fine. Remember the idea is to minimise razor strokes to reduce friction and irritation.

Step 2: Get In The Shower

Soak your bottom half into a tub of water or get into a shower before getting down to business. This can help soften the outer layer of the skin, making it easier to remove the coarse pubic hair. But save the shave for the end of your bath to allow enough time for the moisture to seep in and do its job.

Pro tip: Post shower, you can use a mild exfoliator or a wash cloth to gently rub your genital skin. This can remove the dirt and dust buildup and allow a closer shave.

Step 3: Shield Your Skin

You can get away with dry shaving your face. But when it comes to your genital skin, you’ve got to use a slick barrier for the razor to glide smoothly. You’ll find a ton of shaving creams. But they can irritate the skin and their moosy texture can make it difficult to navigate the razor. We recommend using Sirona’s Refreshing Intimate Wash instead. Made of natural ingredients like olive and tea tree oil, it is extremely gentle on the nether regions. It can remove the dirt and dust build up for a closer shave and its foamy texture can help run the razor seamlessly.

Step 4: Now, On To The Main Event

The golden rule of shaving down there is to hold the skin taut and move the razor in the direction of the hair. Avoid running the razor back and forth or too many times over the same area to prevent irritation and cuts. Always use a clean, sharp razor with 4-8 blades to remove the hair with minimum strokes. Sirona’s 4 Blade Razor fits the bill here. Its stainless steel blades can give you an effortless, close shave. Its moisturising aloe vera strip is the cherry on the cake. It can help run the razor smoothly and nourish the skin simultaneously.

Step 5: Calm Your Skin Down

If you’re done with shaving your privates, you’ve won half the battle. You can triumph over the other half by soothing your freshly-shaven skin to avoid bumps, redness, and irritation. Massaging a pea-sized amount of Sirona’s Post Wax & Shave Gel can help you a great deal. Made with Tasmanaian pepper fruit, chamomile, and green tea, it can calm your skin without making it greasy or disturbing its natural acidic mantle.

Step 6: Don’t Wait, Hydrate!

To minimise the likelihood of bumps and ingrowns, it is important to hydrate your genital skin immediately after shaving. A non-comedogenic post-shave porduct like Sirona’s Moisturising Intimate Oil can nourish your skin. Enriched with coconut and rosehip oil, it can hydrate the skin and leave it soft and supple.

Getting a smooth bikini line post shaving isn’t a big deal. You’ve just got to follow these simple steps to get there.
