7 Home Remedies To Make Your Periods Smoother And Pain Free!

Your period comes with a host of other problems – cramps, body ache, moodiness and general irritability, to name a few! And the downside to all of it (yes, there is more) is that you cannot pop as many pills you’d like to because it can’t be that good for you now, can it? And considering the fact that an average woman spends ten years of her life menstruating, there have to be a few ways out there to make it all better. For the same, nothing works better than home remedies, because let’s admit it, I’m not spending a crazy amount of money on this pesky little monthly visitor since all I get in return are pain and pimples. So here are some easy home remedies that will help you breeze through your period without possible side effects!

1. Chamomile Tea

One of your best bets ever, chamomile tea can work wonders when it comes to relieving your period cramps. Due to its anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties, it can help relax your uterine muscles and reduce the pain and inflammation. Isn’t that all we ask for?

2. Ginger Water

If you steep an inch of ginger in hot water and drink it up after it cools down (you can always add honey), your pain will almost vanish. It’ll also help with nausea and upset stomach. Also, if you have an irregular period cycle, ginger water will regulate that as it promotes menstruation. Truly a magical drink.

3. A Massage With Sesame Oil

Filled with anti-oxidants, sesame oil is amazing for its pain relieving properties. A nice massage to your lower abdomen with some warm sesame oil will do the trick.

4. A Dose Of Vitamin D

Some studies have shown that a healthy dose of Vitamin D reduces the production of prostaglandin, the cause of cramps. So while we wouldn’t advice Vitamin D supplements, you can always consume it through foods such as fish, cheese, eggs and orange juice.

5. Fenugreek Seeds

Soak fenugreek seeds in water overnight and drink this water in the morning to help relieve any, and all, discomfort. This happens because fenugreek seeds contain compounds like lysine and tryptophan-rich proteins which have amazing therapeutic properties!

6. Foot Massage

There is a particular point in your foot that helps relieve period cramps. This point is located about three finger widths above your ankle bone. Gently massaging this point can help relieve period cramps and related symptoms like bloating, insomnia, and dizziness.

7. Peppermint Tea

Due to the presence of menthol, peppermint tea is highly effective in easing bloating, a common side-effect of our period. An added bonus: it is also commonly used as a stress and fatigue reliever!
