Holi Special: The Only Products You Need To Protect Your Strands From Getting Damaged

The festival of colours is almost here! So, in addition to all the fun that you’ve planned already, make sure you take care of your skin and hair in advance because it’s always advisable to be cautious.

Playing Holi is so much fun, right? But it’s not as fun for our hair because the chemicals in the colours can do so much damage to it but not if you’re careful from the beginning. Don’t you worry as we’re telling you how you can take care of your hair using a few hair care products.

Our hair is vulnerable to the chemicals present in the Holi colours and there’s no denying that. While nothing should deter us from drenching our pals with colours, a little pre-Holi haircare routine can help protect your mane from getting damaged.

Hair Oil To Protect Your Hair

Not just on Holi, show your hair some love by oiling it regularly a week before the festival. Keep it for a minimum of two hours before shampooing to make your strands stronger from within.

Conditioner To Hydrate

Dry and colour-treated hair is more prone to damage. Deep conditioning your mane a day before playing Holi is a great idea to put moisture back into a dry scalp and further protect it from damage.

After shampooing, squeeze out the excess water from your hair using a dry T-shirt. Next, take a generous amount of hair conditioner and apply it to your hair (not the scalp) and keep it there for about a minute or so and wash it off with cold water.

Hair Mask

Apply a hair mask as it’ll not only make your hair feel super soft to touch but also add an extra protective layer. Leave it in your hair for about 30 minutes before washing it off. Do this a day before playing Holi.

Hair Serum For Extra Protection

Now that you’ve prepped your hair from the inside, make sure you apply a lot of hair oil an hour before playing Holi. Using a hair serum on your strands as an extra protective layer is genius.

Taking care of your hair post-Holi is just as important. With a few haircare products, you can easily undo the hair damage and put the moisture back into the strands!

Shampoo To Remove Hair Colour

The first and foremost step is to wash your mane. Since your scalp would be brimmed with colours, it’s advisable to just wash your hair with water first and then use shampoo to get rid of the colour buildup.

Conditioner To Make Up For The Moisture Loss

Removing Holi colour from the scalp is no easy feat and usually, it takes more than one shampoo session to completely remove the colour traces. Since you’ll be using so much shampoo to wash it off, make sure you use a nice, hydrating conditioner to make up for the moisture loss.

Hair Pack to Protect The Hair And Remove The Colour

If your hair is still in Holi mode aka traces of colour is still there, then give your hair a break from all the shampooing and apply a hair pack. Hair packs are usually stronger than hair masks and can easily help remove colour while also protecting your mane.

Hair Serum

After every hair wash session, make sure you apply hair serum on the lower strands of the hair as it will penetrate deeper into the hair strands, making it stronger against hair damage.
