Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan have come together in what seems to be a whacky, banter-filled comedy. Ayushmann plays the role of a parasital tenant while Amitabh plays the role of a classic old landlord. The movie is set in old Lucknow and everything from the torn down haveli in the movie to their costumes screams Lucknowi. Throughout the trailer, Mirza (played by Amitabh Bachchan) and Baankey (played by Ayushmann) can be seen trying to piss each other off.
Gulabo Sitabo seems to be a classic old school landlord-tenant relationship. Mirza wants Baankey to pay more rent and does everything to try to get evict him out of the haveli. Baankey, on the other hand, seems to be a moophat young guy. Directed by Shoojit Sircar of Vicky Donor & Piku, you know that this is going to be a movie you want to watch. The movie is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 12, seems like the perfect dose of Bollywood we need to ease lockdown blues.
