Fame, stardom, love–all come at a price for our favourite celebrities who definitely don’t have it easy. With the advent of social media, everyone is constantly under the scanner and actors, especially, are frequent targets to trolling. From Ananya being trolled for a spelling mistake, Tara being called anorexic to now Malaika being trolled for putting on makeup- there is anything and everything under the roof that an actor, mostly women, can be targeted for.
Yes, you read that right! Bollywood actor, model, and famous dancer Malaika Arora has been recently trolled for a picture that she put up on Instagram. She was not only targeted for putting ‘too much’ makeup put was also compared to viral singing sensation, Ranu Mondal.
Malaika captioned the picture, “By wearing this band of inclusion, you commit to a world that has space for everyone in it. A world that is stronger for all.” We can see the actor promoting inclusivity in this picture and kudos to her for doing that. Take a look at the click!
While Malaika’s post reflected positivity and some food for thought, it ironically attracted the opposite. She found herself at the receiving end of negative and hateful comments, as people focused more on her makeup and less on the cause that she was supporting. While one user questioned the 46-year old, “Is makeup on you or are you on makeup?”, another one commented, “She looks old in this picture. Some even compared her to “Ranu Mondal” and others called her “old-aunty”. Well, this is not a first.
Remember Ranu Mondal? The lady whose clipping of the song, “Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai” at a train station turned into a viral video. The internet celebrity was also given a chance to record a song by music composer Himesh Reshamiya. Well, the story doesn’t end here. Ranu Mondal was trolled for her makeup that she had put while she was attending an event. Her photo, which went viral, was converted into memes online. Later, however, her makeup artist, Sandhya, issued a clarification saying that the picture which has been doing rounds is fake. She even shared a real picture of the event to prove her point.
Well, whether or not Ranu Mondal’s makeup was real and whether Malaika put less makeup or more, it is high time the fans let them live their lives the way they wish and #SayNoToTrolls.
