Deepika Padukone is an actress who has revolutionized the traditional puffed-hair hairstyle. Whether it is at award functions or in her movies, her pouf is always on-point! Well, we at POPxo decided to try the iconic Deepika Padukone pouf hairstyle. This is how we fared!
Psst: Learn how to perfect the Deepika Padukone pouf here.
1. A Not-So-High Pouf
‘I’ve tried the Deepika Padukone pouf before, especially since all it needs is some bobby pins, a fine comb and about 5 minutes. It really does look nice…but not so much with my current haircut! I have an asymmetrical bob right now, and a pouf with a bit of a height made my head look…kinda unbalanced! So I tried a low pouf with bangs, and while I think it turned out okay, it’s not a style I’m keen on repeating soon. Maybe when my hair has grown to at least medium length again!’ – Pradipta Sarkar, Managing Editor

2. Coloured Charm
‘I’m not a big fan of doing fancy hairstyles… With hair as thick as mine, even a simple braid can be quite a task. But even though this pouf hairstyle was a bit complicated, with the number of bobby pins and all the backcombing, it was so worth it! It kept my hair in place all day and still looked good! Better than my usual messy bun for sure!’ – Divya Sharma, Assistant Editor

3. Curls & More

‘Making a pouf with curly hair isn’t easy at all, but since I am not too tall, (okay, I am short) the pouf gives me this added height. When I tried copying Deepika’s pouf though, my hair just won’t lift up! I put so many pins, but it didn’t look as voluminous as hers, I think I still got close though.’ – Somya Suresh, Senior Writer & Copy Editor
4. Retro Rage
‘With my bangs, it’s a miracle I was able to pull this off at all! With much difficulty and a few bobby pins, I managed to get something remarkably similar. I just wish I had flowers to complete the look. I do quite like this look on me, though all I need now is for my own SRK holding my dupatta while I float by…sounds like a realistic goal, right?’ – Isheeta Sharma, Lifestyle Writer
5. Some Desi Style

‘It took me exactly five minutes to get this done. I’ve been making the Deepika Padukone pouf since the time I was in college. Be it a bun, a pony or just a half-up style, I always make it a point to make a pouf. I have flat hair and a pouf suits my face.’ – Shivani Shrivastava, Trending Writer
6. The Pretty Ponytail

‘Two bobby pins and a hair tie was all it took to replicate this pouf. This hairdo is perfect for those hot sunny days. I love it because it gives structure to my face and makes me feel bold and confident. Probably not as neat as Deepika’s, but definitely worth the try and effort.’ – Sharon Alphonoso, Lifestyle & Beauty Writer

7. Sweet & Simple

‘Making a pouf is not something I usually do with my hair. I’m more of a ‘leave my hair open at all times’ kinda person. It wasn’t really difficult to make a pouf, since I don’t have unruly hair. But clearly I can’t pull it off like DP!’ – Srishti Sabharwal, Fashion Writer
