Rocky Aur rani Kii Prem Kahaani is full of exquisite surprises and the stunning wedding scene in the end is one of them. Karan Johar and his team put a lot of effort to infuse life in this on-screen shaadi and ensured to pay attention to details, just like the rest of the films. I am specifically talking about a thoughtful touch that most people didn’t even notice in the film.
During RARKPK’s kanyadaan scene, Rocky’s (Ranveer Singh) father gives his hand to Rani (Alia Bhatt). Traditionally, in Hindu weddings, it is the bride’s father who gives away his daughter to the groom. However, KJo has beautifully subverted the patriarchal practice by making the groom’s father give away his son to the bride.

A lot of new-age brides have been ditching the very patriarchal practice of kanyadaan in their weddings and it is refreshing to see Karan taking note. Clearly, the filmmaker has his finger on the pulse of the moment and knows how to create a film that resonates with his audience.
A huge shoutout to KJo for giving us a film that carefully navigates important issues while retaining the emotional depth of the storyline!
