Ganesh Chaturthi: Bollywood Stars Bring Bappa Home To Kick-Start Ganpati Celebrations

Come September and the festivities for Ganesh Chaturthi begin with great fervour and zeal all across the country. Marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, this festival lasts for 10 days and ends with the immersion of a Ganesha idol into a water body, where it’s believed to be returning to Kailash Parvat to Parvati and Shiva. From bringing a Ganpati Bappa idol home to praying with their families and friends, Bollywood stars are also found brimming with happiness as they celebrate this festival in their own unique ways.

Here’s how some of our favourite Bollywood celebs marked Ganesh Chaturthi, this year:

Shilpa Shetty Kundra was first spotted in Chinchpokli, Mumbai, with a beautiful, eco-friendly Ganesha idol which she welcomed into her home. Later, she was seen celebrating the festival with her husband and son, all dressed up in traditional Maharashtrian attire.

However, the biggest and most-awaited Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Bollywood would no longer take place at RK Studios this year as it was sold just a few months ago. According to an entertainment portal, Randhir Kapoor confirmed by saying, “That was the last Ganesh Chaturthi celebration for us. RK Studios hi nahi raha… to kahan karengey? Papa started the tradition 70 years ago with a lot of love for the Trunk God, but now, we don’t have a place where we can hold the celebrations the way we did at RK Studios. We all love Bappa and have immense faith in him, but I guess, we can’t continue with the tradition anymore.”
