Animal Ball this. Animal Ball that. By now you must have stumbled upon pictures of Janhvi Kapoor and Manish Malhotra dressed to the nines for something called an “Animal Ball”. But what the hell is it all about? Well, we are talking about one of London’s most prestigious charity events here, the kind that is attended by the British King and Queen!
The Animal Ball is presented by a wildlife conservation charity called ‘The Elephant Family’. The ball returned after a hiatus of three years and marked twenty years of charity. The best bit? This year the gala event celebrated indigenous communities and we saw a lot of desi representation at the charity event with Indian designers showcasing their designs.
Here’s a list of all the Indian celebs who made it to the prestigious ball:
Janhvi Kapoor
Janhvi made it to the ball in a grand gold gown and matching cape by Manish Malhotra. The bedazzling gown was carefully embroidered for a scale-like effect. The plunge neckline and cut-out details on the waist nicely put the entire look together. Janhvi styled it with Manish Malhotra’s gorgeous Lion Mask which was specially designed for the occasion.
Manish Malhotra
MM accompanied his muse to the ball in a sharp bandhgala and twinned with her in a matching mask.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee
Sabyasachi also made it to the Animal Ball proudly flaunting his Bengal Tiger mask. He also designed the gorgeous Shola masks for King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.
Anita Dongre
Anita Dongre created a couple of different masks made of vegan material for the Ball and discussed her sustainable creative process at the “Cultural Industries and Creative Economy Summit”.
Shazreh Rahman
Socialite Shazreh Rahman was one of the best-dressed people at the Animal Ball. She wore a gorgeously draped red dress complete with a trail and finished the look with black embellished gloves.
It is so cool to see desis leave their mark on the international stage and get the work talking about Indian design and handicrafts!
