If you’re not very familiar with Tibetan food and are looking for an authentic experience, Ama should be the first restaurant on your list. If a juicy plate of momo is your weakness, we recommend the buff momo in gravy. Don’t forget to try the Thentuk (hand-pulled noodle soup) and wash down all that deliciousness with a fruit beer!

Yeti – The Himalayan Kitchen

While we love that Tibetan food is budget-friendly if you’re looking to enjoy the same authentic food in a slightly fancy setting, head to Yeti. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a Tibetan settlement in the Himalayas as soon as you step in. When it comes to the food, we loved Gyuma, a mutton sausage, with a side of fluffy Tibetan bread, Tingmo.

Freedom Corner

Nestled away in the tiny by-lanes of Humayunpur Village near Safdarjung Enclave, locating this restaurant can be slightly tricky. However, we promise that you will thank the food gods once you do. The mouth-watering food and affordable prices will have you coming back for more. Personally, we loved the Shaphale, a Tibetan meat pie. You should also try their Taipo—a huge Tingmo bun filled with meat that comes with a boiled egg.

The Ladakhi Kitchen

This terrace restaurant has become our favourite haunt during chilly winter evenings. Plus, if you’re a momo fanatic, your search for the best ones in Gurgaon (and a strong contender for all of NCR) has ended–they’re stuffed with meat, are extra juicy, and even come with whole-wheat options if you’re health-conscious! You should also try their Shapta (stir-fried veggies/meat in a dry gravy) with Tingmo.

Another gem that can be found in the Tibetan settlement colony of Majnu ka Tila, this restaurant is a favourite among students from Delhi University owing to its authentic food, affordable prices and minimalistic decor. Their Thukpa (noodle soup with meat and veggies) feels like a warm hug on a cold rainy day. They also have a variety of delicious non-Tibetan items on their menu, if you like to mix things up. Their apple beer is a must-try!

Lha Kitchen

If you’re looking for an *authentic* Tibetan experience, you’ve come to the right place, because this restaurant has it down to the T! The decor includes Tibetan Prayer flags, artefacts, monastery prayer wheels and traditional floor seating. The food isn’t far behind either–and almost everything on the menu is drool-worthy! The jhol momos are juicy and spicy, their roast pork has the right amount of meat and fat and their fresh iced teas go perfectly with all that spicy food!

Yo Tibet

This is one of the OG authentic, affordable Tibetan spots that had opened up in Humaynpur village almost a decade ago. It still remains a favourite among those who love Tibetan food! According to their loyal customers, you’ll get the best Laphing (a spicy cold mung bean noodle dish) here in the city! Their Kothey momo, Buff Chilli and Tingmo are also hot favourites.
