Over the last couple of years, Bollywood actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and more have proved that women can have it all. Recently, Anushka Sharma made her way to the list of empowered working moms who are changing the world, one day at a time.
In the last few months, Anushka has been quite vocal about her pregnancy struggles, accepting her postpartum body and the challenges of being a working mother. Recently, the NH 10 star opened up about how she is juggling her professional commitments and a being mom in an interview.
Anushka shared, “Striking a work-life balance is certainly harder for women. I don’t think people understand the life and emotions of a working mother, because the world is so male-dominated. Heck, I’m a woman; even I didn’t understand it till I became a mother. Today, I have so much more respect and love for women, and such a strong sense of sisterhood. I’ve always spoken up for women, but to feel love and compassion for the cause makes it so much more powerful.”
The Zero star added, “I wish women received more support in their workplaces. While I know many men who are kind and empathetic towards women, the work culture itself can be so tough.”
Anushka’s honest take on being a working mother is something everyone needs to pay attention to. Over the years, the world has become more welcoming to working moms, but we all still have a long way to go. Even today, women often struggle to find a balance between their personal and professional worlds and this needs to change ASAP.
Most mainstream media talks about the bright and beautiful side of motherhood, but there’s so much more to it. All working moms around the globe can admit to the fact that it is not easy trying to get the best of both worlds.
