Star kid Alaya F might be just one film old in showbiz, but she has proved that she is here to stay. Her impeccable performance in Jawani Janneman alongside Saif Ali Khan made many sit up and take notice of the talented actress. And it looks like Ekta Kapoor was among those impressed by the youngster’s screen presence. Curious? Well, it turns out that the producer has placed a big bet on Alaya by signing her on for her next film titled U-Turn. The movie is the Hindi adaptation of the Kannada hit of the same name and falls under the thriller genre. A little birdie also tells us that the flick is all set to go on floors soon under the supervision of debutant director Arif Khan.
In talks with a leading daily, Ekta revealed that she found Alaya’s work in Jawani Janneman amazing. She said, “Alaya was fantastic in her debut film. There’s a self-assured yet vulnerable quality to her that I believe can connect with audiences. U-Turn takes you on a ride with twists and turns galore, and provides edge-of-the-seat excitement.”
Alaya also shared her excitement and stated that she was looking forward to working with Ekta on such an interesting project. She said, “It is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with Ekta ma’am so early on in my career, especially for such an interesting project. I feel responsible to be given the task to drive such an intriguing story.”
Talking about the original film, U-Turn is a supernatural thriller that was produced, directed, and written by Pawan Kumar. The movie traces the journey of a young reporter who begins investigating the mysterious deaths of motorists who happen to break traffic rules on a particular flyover. What happens when she begins her investigation is filled with twists and turns. The adaptation will be produced by Cult Movies, the new division launched under Balaji Telefilms to back new-age and edgy content.
Earlier, after the release of her first movie, Alaya had expressed her desire to work on unconventional roles. She said, “I want to do different films, shock people with my choices. Make them say ‘wait, she’s doing this also?!’ Hopefully, I want to do it well. Post my debut, all sorts of stories have come my way, whether it’s female-centric, extremely commercial, or edgier ones. Hopefully, I’ll just make the right choices.”
