We are in that age right now when celebrity kids are all grown up and ready to make a living in Bollywood, just like their famous parents. Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday have been the latest debutantes. Most of whom are two-movies old already. And with the beginning of the new decade, we have new star kids all set to get launched into stardom.
Which brings us to this. Have you seen the trailer of Jawaani Jaaneman? Yes, the one with Saif Ali Khan, which looks super fun and refreshing! You must have noticed a new face in the pivotal role of bachelor Saif's daughter. That's our new 'it' girl, Alaya Furniturewala, who goes by Alaya F.
Daughter of Pooja Bedi, Alaya F is all set to mark her big entry with the Saif Ali Khan and Tabu starrer, Jawaani Jaaneman. The movie is about a 40-year-old father and his teenage daughter, which from the looks of Alaya's Instagram is set in modern-day London. We must say, Alaya is looking promising in the trailer. We can't wait for January 31, the date her debut film is releasing, to come sooner.
But do you know anything about Alaya? We do, we do! Before you plan to book your tickets for her entry film, here is everything you need to know about the celeb kid that will make your movie experience even better!
Born on November 28, 1997, Alaya and her younger brother Omar have been brought up by single mother Pooja Bedi, who finalised her divorce with ex-husband Farhan Furniturewala in 2003. Alaya was just six then. Read on to know all about the lead actor of Jawaani Jaaneman.
When we first found out about Alaya through her Instagram, her name was Aalia. Sometime later, we noticed a slight change in the positioning of the 'a' in her name. It had then become Alaia. While that completely changed the pronunciation of her name, it was only until recently when the 'i' was replaced by 'y'. Hence, Alaya. Whether this was done to avoid any mix-up with Alia Bhatt or because of numerology, looks like Alaya F is what the actress is sticking with.
After completing her schooling from Jamnabai Narsee International School in Mumbai, Alaya moved to New York for higher studies. Did you know she's a New York University (NYU) dropout? Well, only because she decided to change her school and go to New York Academy instead to pursue acting. At NYU, she was studying Film Education.
Recall who else goes to NYU for the course? Daughter of Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Suhana Khan, that's who!
While this is the first time Alaya will be making a debut on the big screen, this isn't her first taste at acting for an audience. In 2011, Alaya along with her mother Pooja and brother Omar had participated in the TV reality show, Maa Exchange, on Sony Entertainment Television. The concept of the show was about swapping celebrity mothers with common housewives. Yikes!
Alaya loves the 'gram as much as the 'gram loves her. She dresses like a model-in-the-making and we're all for it. When in the mood for dressing fancy, you know who to follow.
One of her many interests is makeup! Alaya loves to experiment with her looks and keeps trying new things. It's safe to say that she has moved on from her red lipstick phase to warmer shades and glossy looks. Although, four years ago while doing a video for a publication, Alaya had revealed that she started doing her makeup herself quite late in life.
Not many people know this, but Alaya is a trained dancer in Kathak as well as some western styles. We are not surprised. After all, she's the granddaughter of former model turned classical dancer Protima Bedi, actor Kabir Bedi's late wife. Clearly, brilliant moves are in her blood. Being a dancer myself, I'm such a fan of Alaya's contemporary performances. Before her busy acting schedule, she used to dance at Big Dance Studios and Nateshwar Nritya Kala Mandir.
Apart from dancing, travelling is another hobby that she follows. This picture above is from her recent trip to an unknown destination that she took during New Year's. This time last year, she travelled to Varanasi in India to ring in the New Year. Her Insta is full of vacay pictures from all over the country and world. We are already relating hard with the millennial.
