Just thinking about Siddhant Chaturvedi takes us back to his breathtaking performance in Gully Boy, doesn’t it? How he kept us hooked onto him with his sexy demeanour, his unparalleled acting and last but certainly not the least – his *bohot hard* rapping skills! There’s no doubt that Siddhant deserved every bit of acclaim and recognition that he received from the audience for his awesome debut. And just when we thought we couldn’t love him more, our MC Sher proved that he’s a multi-talented rockstar!
In a recent interview, the 24-year-old actor revealed that apart from acting, he’s equally passionate about dance. “I have been a dancer all my life. I would love to sign up for a dance film,” he said. He admitted on knowing a lot of dance forms like locking, popping, hip-hop, Bollywood, classical and a little bit of contemporary, too. He had also posted many dance videos on Instagram but took them all down as he wished to surprise the audience when they see him dance on the big screen.
Reminiscing his experience in Gully Boy, Siddhant talked about how long he had been working towards achieving this big break. “I waited very long for this break and had faith that I would impress the audience with this author-backed role, but I didn’t expect it to happen in a matter of two-three days,” he quipped. He confessed that there was a time when he was jobless and burdened with expectations. “Being in the race excites me more than anything else and will push me into doing better,” he said.
Siddhant was in the midst of his final year studies for CA (Chartered Accountant) when he took a risk with his passion for acting despite coming from a non-filmy background. “I was told not to be disheartened if things don’t work out as she (Zoya Akhtar, the director) was looking to cast someone older and already established,” he admitted. But when he cleared the audition and bagged the role despite being only 24, everyone was left awestruck. “Nobody imagined that I could do this,” he said with pride in his eyes.
Further, Siddhant couldn’t stop raving about his co-star, Ranveer Singh with whom he would love to do another film. “It’s not easy for someone to give so much of screen time to a debutant but Ranveer is a pure soul,” he said. With his mentorship, Siddhant found his “MC Sher in him” as he made him feel very powerful. “The audience calls us the new age Jai-Veeru,” he quipped.
Gushing about his female fan attention which had increased manifold, he said, “It’s crazy, so many girls want to marry me or just be there with me!”. But on being quizzed about his relationship status, all he could manage to say was, “Sher hamesha akele rehta hai.” Oh dear, how can anyone resist him?
Talking about his future plans, Siddhant wished to do the kind of films that Govinda and Tom Hardy aced. Despite having a lot of things in his mind, he didn’t want to sign anything just for the sake of it but was instead, looking for “films that hit the right spot”. Apart from being an actor and dancer, Siddhant is also a musician and trained in Taekwondo. Hence, he planned to use all his skills in different films. We can’t contain our excitement any longer now, can we?
