There was inexplicable magic to the moment when Aditi Rao Hydari first appeared on the big screen as Mehrunnisa in Padmaavat. She brought a regal charm to the role with her distant, dreamy gaze and one could tell that the character was made for her. And she has a way of doing that for every role she essays. This is perhaps why movie maestros like Mani Ratnam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali take a keen interest in her work. And this is surely the reason why she’s the first choice for designers unveiling or presenting an Indian wear collection. Take, for instance, Anju Modi’s enchanting show last night where Aditi walked as her show stopper and had us transfixed. Here’s everything we loved about her look:
She Walks In Beauty!
Last night Anju Modi presented her ‘The Road Less Traveled’ collection at the FDCI India couture week. With her mastery of Indian textiles and penchant for Earthy hues, Anju gave us a strong line that drew inspiration from her travels and experiences. The highlight of the collection was an array of pristine whites tastefully styled with jewel hues, multi-coloured resham embroidery, and subtle embellishments. And just when we thought it didn’t get any better, Aditi Rao Hydari took over the ramp and punctured the ivory palette with her colour contrast lehenga.
Aditi’s Anju Modi lehenga set included a mustard skirt complete with zardozi handwork, tangerine accents, and a maroon hem. It was paired with a matching mustard blouse and a bottle green dupatta that featured an intricate border. The look was aptly finished with a navratna choker, matching earrings, jadau bangles, and an elaborate nath.
We love how Aditi’s hair was parted at the centre to further highlight her traditional style. In the beauty department, she stuck to her signature look with softly flushed dewy skin, clean eyes, and strong eyebrows. The instant she took over the stage, Aditi made it very clear that she was there to win the day and nobody in the audience could take their eyes off even for a split second.
Well, just in case you are gearing up for a wedding this year, you need to take a leaf from Aditi’s Anju Modi look. Tasteful contrasts are back in vogue and we’d love to see how brides play with colour for the upcoming wedding season. Things are gonna get super fun super soon in the desi fashion corridors. We can feel it!
