When you think couture or bridal, along with the opulent ensembles you also think bright, shiny, glittery makeup looks and gorgeous hair. Indian weddings were all about grandeur and while that probably hasn’t changed, the scale of opulence definitely has. Minimalism has breached the perimeter. Okay, I sound like I just enlisted in the army. But I have been really impressed with the beauty looks. They all had a common thread, bare faces and one statement highlight for the makeup. It was either the lips or the eyes or the brows. Being the lazy person that I am, I resonated with these looks a bit too much! Minimal has been my beauty favourite thanks to my skincare obsession. Sleek hair was also another common thread that I saw, especially among showstoppers, which was definitely an interesting pick for the outfits they had on.
Here are the beauty and hair showstopper moments that caught our attention at the India Couture Week through the weekend.
Tarun Tahiliani – The Glow Getter
Aditi Rao Hydari was the show stopped and we loved the minimalistic glow that her look had. Not to mention the sleek bun and nude lip. This natural flush was what you would imagine if you thought about the bridal glow.
The highlighter was popping with glitter through and through!
Anju Modi – Victorian Bride
Kangana Ranaut was the showstopper here and again her effortlessly messy yet structured hairdo stood out. Bare face and metallic eyes was another common theme.
Fresh faces and low buns were a common theme striking a balance between the makeup and royal garb.
Falguni Shane Peacock – Brazen and Bronze
Kareena Kapoor Khan here was seen in an all gold statement ensemble, but her makeup and hair was kept very minimal and understated. Because of Bebo’s complexion, it was a GREAT call to give her skin a more bronzed glow so she wouldn’t get lost in the opulence of her outfit.
We also saw a lot of metallic eyes but again in a very understated way where the rest of the face was close to being bare!
Amit Aggarwal – Disney Villian Meets Mumtaz
Amit is known for his unconventional saree drapes and he surprised us with a sleek ensemble this time around. Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s makeup game was absolutely bringing symmetry to this ensemble. The focus was on her deep wine lips and her slicked back hair.
Here, we also saw a use of colour unconventionally to match the makeup with the ensemble. The hairstyles though were FABULOUSLY SLEEK!
Shyamal & Bhumika – Fresh Faced Glam
This was Kiara’s couture week debut and we think she did a GREAT JOB! Again there was sleek hair and a glowing face with bold lashes. The fuschia lip colour was a fantastic choice and added a very bright and young vibe to the whole look.
The bright lipstick was a common theme through the night.
Reynu Tandon – Golden Glow
Another common thread with all the looks was the bright face and flushed glow that each look had. Yami Gautam’s look was mostly glowing, but we saw the classic cat eye making an appearance. The cat eye was smudged out a little bit and it looked great honestly!
The glow was high with this one.
