A “happily ever after” is never quite just what it promises to be and it takes a lot of time and a whole lot of effort to even get to “ever after”. Once there, it will seem like henceforth it’s just going to be butterflies and cupcakes but no, every happy ending comes with its fair share of unhappy elements to balance things out. These are a few things that no one ever tells us about happily ever afters:
1. It’s only shiny on the surface
All love stories see their share of ups and downs and these are the very things that make a relationship grow stronger. However, no matter how happy a couple may look on the surface, they too have their own set of problems. The problems may be big or small and sometimes even rather insignificant but couples who work through all these hurdles emerge stronger.
2. Nothing is forever
Don’t be alarmed! By it not lasting forever we mean – the fights and the struggles. Every fight will eventually work itself out and you have to be patient. “Happily ever afters” don’t come knocking on your door. You have to work for them!

3. Your “happily-ever-after” may sometimes leave
You can fall in love with someone, dream about a future with him and maybe even believe that he is your happy ending. However, some of these relationships are just disguises of a happily ever after. You may be barking up the wrong tree but that doesn’t mean you won’t find the right one.
4. Your happily-ever-after will make you feel glorious
Each day and every day, even for the simple things that you do. He will make you feel beautiful and worthy of all the happiness in the world. When you finally find your happily ever after, you will know it, it’s a feeling that starts from the stomach and travels all over your body and you won’t stop beaming!
5. You have to love yourself first
And most importantly be at peace with who you are and what sort of a life you have chosen for yourself. You can’t go on expecting to find love that will last forever if you can’t even love yourself. Loving the world begins at loving thyself first.
6. You have to be open to a lot of compromise
Things won’t just suddenly fall in your lap and tell you, “this is how you can make things work” or “this is how you will always be happy”. No, it takes compromise and understanding from both the girl and the guy to find a balance that will keep them both happy. This is a harsh way to put it but it is true, it is always a lot of give and take.

7. You have to stop believing the movies
“…and they lived happily ever after.” What? How? Don’t they have responsibilities? Or arguments? Don’t they have jobs to go to and kids to send to school? Remember, that life and everything that comes along with it is infact your happy ending.
8. You alone are enough for a happy forever
Ladies, please remember that you are worth all the happiness in the world and your happiness should not necessarily depend on someone else. You are complete by yourself and you can be your own happily ever after too!
