If there’s one makeup product we are all guilty of over-indulging in; it would be a lipstick! We can’t ever have enough. Finding that perfect nude lipstick and that perfect red lipstick is like looking for a needle in a haystack. But what do you do when you end up buying a make-up product for lips the one you don’t like? Do you toss it and buy another? No! Use these lipstick hacks to perfect that pout and make the most of every single lipstick you own!
1. Use a lipstick as a blush
Forgot to carry your makeup bag and need to look fresh in a jiffy? Dot some lipstick on the apples of your cheeks and blend it using your fingers. The warmth of your fingers will help you diffuse the product into a very natural finish.

2. You can convert a cream lipstick to matte
Convert any creamy lipstick into a matte finish by dusting on some loose powder. Place a thin sheet of tissue paper over your lips and dust powder over the tissue. The powder will seep through the tissue paper and settle on top.
If you don’t have loose powder then take a piece of tissue paper and fold it in half. Place it in between your lips and press your lips firmly over it. Apply a second layer of lipstick and repeat. Keep repeating this process until you are satisfied with the way it looks. This is also a great way to increase the longevity of your lipstick. 3. Q-tips for clean edges

Ended up colouring outside the lines? Don’t worry. Use Q-tips with concealer or makeup remover to clean up any mistakes you make while applying lipstick. You can even wrap a baby wipe around a Q-tip and clean up around the edge of your lips.
4. Mix it to fix it
Ended up buying a lipstick a few shades too light? We’ve all been there. Don’t toss it into the trash though, simply use that lipstick as a base and apply any other lip colour over it. You can create a custom shade of lipstick that’s perfect for your skin tone. Mix the lipsticks together on the back of your hand if you don’t want to mess up the lipstick applicator.
5. Brighten pigmented lips
If your lips are dark or have pigmentations on them, dot foundation or concealer on your lips and blend. You can even use a white or nude eyeliner pencil to get the same effect.

6. Keep lipstick off your teeth
Does your lipstick always end up on your teeth? There’s an easy way to prevent this from happening. Apply your lipstick and pout, put your finger inside your mouth and pull it out. All the extra lipstick that usually ended up on your lips will end up on your finger!
7. Convert any lipstick into a metallic finish
Loving the metallic lip trend? Don’t run out and buy a new lipstick, just apply some highlighter or eyeshadow on top of any lipstick to give it a gorgeous metallic finish. After you apply your lipstick, use your finger to tap on eyeshadow or the highlighter and dab this on your lips. Focus on the centre of your lips!
8. Make your lips look fuller
There are many ways you can get your lips to look fuller.
– Use a lip liner to outline your lips. Use a lip liner that’s one shade lighter than your lipsticks and fill-in in the centre of your lips. Apply lipstick as you normally would.
– Use a little bit of lip gloss only in the centre of your lips
– Use a lip liner and lightly over-line your lips before applying lipstick.

9. Fix broken lipstick
Broke your lipstick? Use a lighter to melt the broken part of the lipstick and reattach it to the bullet. If this doesn’t work for you, scoop out all the lipstick from the bullet into a small lip balm container. Place it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds until the lipstick melts. Next time you’re getting ready, you can use a lipstick brush to apply it.
10. Make lipstick darker
Want a darker colour pay off from a lipstick? Simply mix it in with a little bit of black eyeliner before applying! It’s the best way to avoid scouting or spending money on a new lippie.
