Wonder Woman Is The BEST Performing Superhero Movie In 15 Years!

If you think that a woman is just a damsel in distress, waiting for a prince to rescue her, think again. The recently-released Gal Gadot-starrer Wonder Woman, where she kicks some major ass and saves the world is a testament to a fact that women on-screen (and off) can fight their own battles (thank you very much!) and also cause mayhem at the box office.

The Warner Brothers and DC Comics film, which is also the first superhero film to be ever directed by a woman (Patty Jenkins), is soon to be the highest-grossing summer movie in the US this year, surpassing the numbers for Disney and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in North America.

The Wonder Woman film which released in June has unanimously received praise from audiences and critics alike. Applause for Gadot, who shot some portions of the film five months pregnant, has come in from Hollywood folks as well. Including actor Ryan Reynolds who plays Deadpool.

Great word of mouth has ensured the film to have at least a $390 million-plus earnings in the domestic box-office, well over the final Harry Potter film and last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, becoming the studio’s biggest-earning film after The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s 3.8 multiple growth since the weekend of its release makes it the best performing superhero movie in 15 years when the studio’s most commercial venture, The Dark Knight (2008) only went up to a 3.4 multiple.

Compared to the enormous scale of other superhero films, Wonder Woman was made at a humble budget of 149 million USD and it has already made five times the amount in the global box-office.

The outstanding commercial success should hopefully bring back Wonder Woman on the silver screens, very very soon.
