A Woman Gets Molested In Mumbai Local Train As Other Passengers Watch

Are Mumbai local trains, used by millions as a mode of transport on daily basis, also not safe for women? As per a popular daily’s report, a man attacked and molested a woman while travelling in a Mumbai local train. The two were friends. The man tried to strangle the woman after an altercation. The train was moving from Thane to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station late in the evening on Thursday, 5th April. The passengers were present in the train when the incident happened.

As reported by ANI, the perpetrator was then arrested at Dadar railway station. An amateur video shot on an onlooker’s phone captured the horrific incident. The other passengers on the train watched the scene mutely. Reportedly, a case has been registered against the man.

It’s said the man, who is identified as Rafique Shaikh, owed the woman a large amount of money. The duo got into an argument over the issue, following which the man dragged the woman by the hair and then tried to strangle her.

Co-passengers, including a cop, tried to raise an alarm but couldn’t stop him due to a partition between the two compartments. The accused will be presented in Railway court today, Friday, 6th of April.
