6 Ways You Can Contribute To Kerala & Help The State Recover From The Floods

God’s own country, Kerala faced the worst floods the state has seen in almost a century. However, in the midst of all the turmoil, humanity triumphed and people helped each other in these times of need. Religion, caste, community and all other dividing factors took a backseat and we stood together in the face of a calamity.

Through all this, help kept pouring in from everywhere, from the citizens of the country as well as our neighbours. In just a fortnight, the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund has received Rs 713.92 crores. This is actually more than the Rs 600 crores Kerala received from the centre.

So all of you who donated, this is a big thank you!

As many as four lakh people contributed to this sum and every rupee has made a difference. Out of the total money, Rs 132.62 crores was deposited through banks and UPIs while online contributions like Paytm accounted for Rs 43 crore. A total of Rs 518.24 crore has been deposited at the CMDRF’s account with State Bank of India.

As of Monday, a total of 3,42,699 displaced people are still living in 1093 camps. Another herculean task ahead of the government will be to rehabilitate all those affected from the floods.

According to NDTV, a ray of hope has been that the Cochin international airport is all set to resume working after being non-functional for half the month.
