Here’s How To Get Your Dream Lehenga Within YOUR Budget!

Your dream wedding lehenga could leave a hole in your pocket. But if customizing your outfit is on your mind, then these simple tips will help you get your wedding lehenga for less – yes, in your budget! Here’s how you can reduce the cost of your wedding outfit!

1. Don’t let ’em know the truth!

That’s right! Don’t let the vendors know you’re looking for a bridal outfit. Say instead you want something for your sangeet or engagement. Give in your colour and style specifications so you get what you want. You’ll be surprised to know that the same outfit is pitched at two different prices depending on the function it is bought for.

2. Keep it light

It’s your wedding so we won’t ask you to compromise but do cut it out where possible. Your blouse, for instance, will be covered by the dupatta. This is where you can eliminate the kadhai and keep it plain. A lace at the neck and sleeves should be good enough.

3. Tassel it up!

A great way to add drama to your outfit is to load it with latkans. The market is full of fresh new tassel styles that aren’t very expensive either. A bunch of latkans instantly make any outfit look fuller and dressier. Hang them from the lehenga tie to make it look dressy or from the four corners of your wedding dupatta – this is something you need to try out.

4. Printed prettiness

Printed fabrics are another awesome way to make your outfit look fancier without actually spending a lot on hand or machine embroidery. Brocade, for instance, comes with self print and looks fab. Just a hint of work on brocade can make it look like a million bucks!

5. Go that extra mile

Try and source your lehenga borders yourself. While big stores don’t allow this, the smaller boutiques are usually fine with it. There is a huge margin on borders. So find out the local wholesale cloth shops in your city and go hunting. From zari, gotta patti to sequins, you’ll find it all. Do check out Kinari Bazaar and Lajpat Nagar in Delhi.

6. Trust the lil’ ones

The big stores don’t allow a lot of customization and your bargaining powers too won’t work much. Do a bit of research and do not be afraid to rope in local designers or boutiques to do your wedding outfit. Trust us, they are equally good and let ‘you’ decide the budget for your dream lehenga.
