10 Simple Ways To Deal With Dark Circles Before Your Shaadi!

Dark circles… Isn’t just that term enough to freak out every girl?! And especially a bride-to-be! While you would have a makeup artist to cover them up at the main functions, for rest of the days,  you’re pretty much on your own. And hiding these pesky little patches is not easy! But worry not ladies, because we’ve got some amazing remedies for dark circles that’ll help you say goodbye to them…forever!

1. Don’t throw that tea bag away

You’ve probably heard of this one before but never really tried it. Now that you’re a bride-to-be, we say, just go ahead! All you need is a used tea bag. Freeze it in the refrigerator for about 15-20 mins and then place it over your eyes for another 15 minutes. We swear you’ll see the difference in almost a week, not just in dark circles but also in puffiness!

2. Oil does the trick

Take equal portions of almond oil and coconut oil and gently massage them in a circular motion around your eyes. Do it every night for a few minutes and rinse in the morning. Almond oil is a great source of vitamin K and thus helps reduce eye bags and dark circles. Coconut oil contains vitamin E and also helps moisturize the skin around your eyes.

3. Nothing like a raw potato

Peel one tiny potato and grate it. Cool the grated potato in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes. Using a cotton pad, apply the mix all over your eyes and let it rest for 15-20 mins. Potato is known to be a natural bleaching agent and can help reduce under eye circles. You’ll see the results in just a couple of days!

4. It’s all in the diet

Vitamin K and vitamin C should be your best friends in the months leading up to the big day. Citrus fruits like apricots, lemons, oranges, kiwi and melon are all high in vitamin C content. Poor blood circulation can result in dark circles and vitamin K helps improve just that! It is found in broccoli, spinach and most other green leafy vegetables.

5. Tomato to the rescue

Yet another natural bleaching agent, use cool tomato juice with a few drops of lemon around your eyes. Dip a cotton ball in the mix and let it rest on your eyes for 15 mins. Alternatively, you can even make yourself a glass of fresh tomato juice. Add to it a few mint leaves, lemon juice and salt. Drink this mix every day for a week for best results.

6. Sleep like a boss!

Do we even need to say this? A minimum of 7 hours of beauty sleep is essential for the bride-to-be. One of the major causes of dark circles is insufficient sleep and with so much going on in your life, you may just end up ignoring your bed time. Sleep well and try adding one more pillow under your head. The elevated posture helps the circulation of blood and prevents excess fluid pooling under your eyes.

7. The fab aloe vera gel!

Aloe vera contains Vitamin C,A and E and is a great way to reduce puffiness around your eyes. Regular use of aloe vera under your eyes will leave you with visibly less dark circles. We at POPxo, love the Fabindia Aloe Vera Under Eye Gel. Massage it every night around your eyes for best results.

8. Ice ice baby!

For the bride with just no time to spare, this one is the best bet. Just soak a washcloth in cold water or milk and lay it over your eyes for 15 minutes. You could even wrap up ice cubes in a soft cloth and massage it all around your eyes. This cold compress helps constrict the blood vessels under the eyes and thus reduces redness, puffiness and dark circles.

9. Cucumber calling!

Most of us know about the skin lightening properties of Cucumber and how it’s just the most amazing thing to get rid of those panda eyes. Place cool slices of cucumber or grate a small portion and mix it with 2-3 lemon drops. Dip a cotton pad and let it rest on your eyes. Dark circles or not, every bride-to-be must include cucumber in her beauty regime to get rid of tired and dull eyes.

10. Watch that makeup

Water-based cosmetics are lighter in nature and work better than oil based products if you’re trying to get rid of dark circles. Also, did you know that sleeping with your makeup on can result in dark eyes too? If you let your makeup sit all night, it’ll block your pores which leads to under eye circles. Remove your makeup, use a gentle cleanser on your face and always moisturize before hitting the bed. Girls, these are all the ways you can get rid of those dreaded dark circles! And do remember to always use a sunscreen and avoid long hours in front of computer and phone screens to keep your eyes fresh and fabulous! Internal Images: Shutterstock
