This Bollywood Couple Is All Set To Play Ram & Sita In Ramayana!

Amidst the release of Adipurush, a lot of chatter has been going on about Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming movie Ramayana. While it had earlier been put on hold as the filmmaker couldn’t find anyone appropriate to play Raavan, the film’s shooting has resumed now. And buzz has it that our fave tinsel town couple might play the roles of Ram and Sita! Well, it’s none other than *drumrolls* Raha’s dearest parents, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt!

The speculations first began when Ranbir and Alia were spotted paying frequent visits to Nitesh Tiwari’s office, also known as the “Ramayana Office” where the team has created a pre-visualised world for the film. Recently, a close source put an end to the speculations and confirmed that Ranbir and Alia have been finalised for Nitesh Tiwari’s rendition of Ramayana. The source shared with a media portal, “Alia was the first choice for Ramayana, but back in the day, the dates couldn’t match due to multiple reasons. But with all the delays, Nitesh and producer Madhu Mantena have gotten back to their first choice and the actress is excited to play a character that could stay with her for a lifetime. Same for Ranbir, who is charged up for this new divine journey of Shri Ram!”

Shedding some light on how Ranbir is prepping for the role, the source revealed, “Over the last few weeks, Ranbir Kapoor has been spotted visiting the DNEG office, to check on the progress of Ramayana. The pre-visualization of the world has already been done and the team is now doing look tests with Ranbir to play Lord Ram. The purpose of the visit has been to get the right look for Ranbir as on getting it right, he will then step into the physical transformation aspect!” Apart from Ranbir and Alia, South Indian superstar Yash has been roped in by the makers to play the role of Ravana in the film. However, the KGF actor is yet to sign the paperwork. Reportedly, the much-anticipated film is expected to go on floors in December 2023/January 2024. 

Before the final cast, a bunch of B-town stars were approached to be cast in Ramayana. As per reports, the producers were in talks with Deepika Padukone to play Sita. But the decision was dropped since she would be playing ‘Draupadi’ in a movie for the same production house. Even Hrithik Roshan was offered the role of ‘Ravana’, but he declined the deal since the project wasn’t moving ahead.

Looking back at the fiery chemistry of Alia and Ranbir as Isha and Shiva in Brahmastra, we can’t wait to witness them together on the big screens again!
