Then Vs Now: What The Cast Of Remix Looks Like After 15 Years!

Hey Bhaggu, it’s been a while! There were some shows in our formative years that redefined youth for us. Remix, the remake of the popular Argentine soap Rebelde Way, was one such show that was a stress-buster for every youngster. It aired on 2004 on Star One and gained significant popularity with its light-hearted comedy and an endearing portrayal of romantic relationships. We incorporated its iconic dialogues into our everyday conversations and knew each character’s catchphrase by heart. The makers of the show released an album, also called Remix (well, obviously), which was a rage with the show’s audience.

It has been an eternity since the last episode of Remix aired, but we still aren’t over its characters and their antics. Fifteen years on, let’s look at what the legendary cast of the show has been up to.

Karan Wahi Aka Ranveer Sisodia

Accept it or not, every teenage girl had a crush on Ranveer! The boy-next-door became the heartthrob of the small screen after playing the role of this charming gentleman in Maurya High. The cutie who set our hearts racing has turned into a hottie. Remix was a stepping stone for Karan, after which there was no looking back for him. Karan Wahi was seen in numerous TV shows like Dil Mill Gayye and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, and also hosted Nach Baliye and Indian Idol Junior. After his stint on television, he went on to acting in Bollywood movies such as Dawat-E-Ishq and Hate Story 4. Recently, he anchored Entertainment Ki Raat and India’s Next Superstars with Rithvik Dhanjani in 2018.

Priya Wal Aka Anvesha Banerjee Ray

Priya was the red-headed, badass rebel we all took inspiration from. She was smart, bold, kind and the epitome of coolness. She struck a chord with her devil-may-care attitude and the ‘Hey Bhaggu’ exasperation. After Remix, she went on to work in CID, Kahanii Ghar Ghar Kii, MTV Webbed, Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani and Gangaa. She was recently seen in a short web series Misadventures Of A Television Actor on her Youtube channel.

Shweta Gulati Aka Tia Ahuja

The diva was the pretty one in the group. Tia always talked about herself in third person and was the most chirpy character on the show. Shweta Gulati also gained popularity by working in shows like Ambar Dhara, Dill Mill Gayye and Comedy Circus. She also played the character of Neeti Tipnis in the 2009 film Detective Naani, and was last seen as Dolly in SAB TV’s Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double.

Raj Singh Arora Aka Yuvraj Dev

The stereotypical cool guy, Yuvi had all the characteristics of a bad boy – handsome, spoilt and rich. He was Ashi’s love interest on the show and believed that school was too cool for him. Post Remix, he got meaty roles in shows such as Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Yeh Hai Aashiqui. He currently stars on Indian soap opera Yeh Hai Mohabbatein playing the role of Mihir Arora.

Kunal Karan Kapoor Aka Varun

Kunal Karan Kapoor had his geek on in the show. Being the nerd of the group, he was constantly picked on by Yuvi’s gang. Kunal made it big on the small screen with roles in Left Right LeftNa Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha and Doli Armaano Ki. In 2017, he returned to acting after a two-year hiatus, and he produced a new album Adda with his co-actor Ritabhari Chakraborty.

Surelee Joseph Aka Maria Priya

Maria, the athlete, was Varun’s love interest and Ashi’s best friend. She was a Catholic orphan, an interesting role at that time, and was recognised for her strong personality. The actress started modelling after Remix, established her fashion brand Bandra Road, and got married in 2012.

Saurabh Raj Jain Aka Amandeep Chadha

Amandeep was Ranveer’s roommate and best friend on the show. He stole our hearts with his serious and intense portrayal of a boy who hid his identity as a Sikh. Saurabh has since appeared in mythological shows like Jai Shree Krishna and Devo Ke Dev… Mahadev. He went on to become one of the most popular TV actors and was known for his roles in Meet Mila De Rabba, Kasam Se, Uttaran and Hazir Jawab Birbal. He made his debut in movies with Karma (2008) and also entered the Telugu cinema with Om Namo Venkatesaya. Saurabh is happily married now.

Habib Mithiborwala Aka Nakul Agarwal

You may call him smug, but Nakul was Yuvi’s sidekick who cracked us up with his funny antics. Unfortunately, Habib Mithiborwala got paralysed after the Mumbai floods in 2006. However, after undergoing several surgeries, the actor made an appearance in Salman Khan’s Dus Ka Dum in 2013.

Siddhanth Karnick Aka Arjun Khanna

Sidhant portrayed the negative character of Arjun and he was a boy who we all loved to hate! He gained recognition by playing another negative role in the famous desi vampire show Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. He was also known for his leading role in Ek Tha Raja, Ek Thi Rani. The actor was last seen playing the character of Ganpat Rao on Sony TV’s Mere Sai.

Woah! And a journey it has been. You know you’re still smitten by the most popular rock band of Indian television if you can sing along to ‘Naa koi tension lena, naa hi koi darke jeena’. Ain’t we right?
