Bikini wax for the bride and how to take care post waxing

You’ve invested in gorgeous lingerie for the big wedding night and for your honeymoon that will make his jaw drop. Now it’s time to groom those lady parts to help you feel sexier than ever. We’ve put together a bikini wax for the bride guide- whether it’s your first time or 10th, these pre- and post-bikini wax tips will take care of you…down there!

Choose One

First things first, bikini wax for the bride required to have in mind the type of wax you want. Typically, when we say bikini or Brazilian wax we generally just mean a wax down there, but there are specific types to choose from:  A Bikini Wax – This means waxing only the bikini line. Any hair that would generally pop out of a bikini bottom is removed. Most salons include this with a full leg wax.  A Brazilian Wax – This is when ALL the hair is removed from front all the way to the back – yes, even between your bum. You have an option to leave some behind in the front if being completely bare makes you feel pre-pubescent.  A French Wax – This is when all the hair in the front is removed and the back is not touched. This is good as a full body wax for wedding day option.

Pre-Wax Tips

1. Bikini wax for the bride before her Wedding isn’t the best idea

If you have never gotten waxed down there, then just before your big day really isn’t the time to experiment. Bikini wax for the bride can leave the sensitive area sore, tender and even swollen. Plan it well in advance so you get it done for the very first time 3 months before the wedding day and then follow it up with a couple of sessions before your wedding. Get one at least 3 days before your wedding so your skin has enough time to recover.

2. Make Sure Your Hair Is The Right Length

Bikini wax for the bride should ensure the hair should be at least a quarter of an inch long so that it comes off easily, without having to go over the area again and again (ouch!). If you’ve been shaving the area all this time, then refrain from picking up your razor and allow the hair to grow enough in preparation for your wax. However, make sure it isn’t too long either; if so, you may want to trim it to allow the strips to get the perfect grip.

3.  Be Clean

It’s important to shower before your wax and thoroughly clean the area. It’s etiquette, after all be considerate for your waxer and also to help avoid bacterial infections.

4. Reduce The Pain

The days and hours leading up to a bikini wax can be really stressful. Anyone would be nervous about having their nether regions ripped at! We’re not going to lie – it is painful, but there are a few steps to reduce the pain. Pop a painkiller 45 minutes before the appointment and be sure not to book it a few days before your period as that’s when your skin is at its most sensitive. Remember that the more often you do it, the less painful it becomes so try starting a few months in advance. Just take deep breaths and relax when you’re on the table and it should be fine.

Post-Wax Care

1. Say No To Your Skinny Jeans

You need to allow the area to breathe, wearing tight clothes after your wax can cause irritation in the sore area. Remember to carry a fresh pair of cotton panties to wear right after your wax to allow the area to breathe and to prevent infections caused by sweat and oil.

2. Moisturize Like A Demon

Remember how delicate your skin down there is, moisturizing it post-wax is an absolute must. You can even use aloe vera gel to soothe the area and help get rid of redness.

3. Shower Steps

Avoid hot showers for a day or two after your wax as that can aggravate and irritate your sensitive lady parts. Also, don’t use soap or shower gel down there for at least 24 hours so as to not irritate your skin.

4. Your Exfoliation Game Should Be top notch

Just like the rest of your body, exfoliate your skin down there as well. Start a couple of days after your wax and do it regularly. This will help keep the area smooth and also help keep those pesky ingrowths at bay. Images: Shutterstock HAVE A STORY IDEA FOR POPxo? If you want to hear about it, we can write about it!
