2017 can be the year you get that gorgeous glowing skin you’ve always wanted! All you need to do is make some tiny promises to yourself and stick to them! Here are 17 skincare resolutions you must follow in 2017 for a radiant complexion!

1. To let each product sink in before applying the next

One mistake we often make is to lather products on one after the other. Vow to stop doing that in 2017. Give your skin time to absorb serum before you put on moisturizer. This will ensure that each product does the job it is supposed to do.

2. To clean your makeup brushes

You should ideally clean your makeup brushes once a week if you use them every day, but most of us are not that religious about our makeup tools. The makeup residue on brushes can lead to bacterial build-up, which can lead to acne and other skin problems! So this new year, resolve to clean your brushes at least twice a month.

3. To include more vitamins in your diet

There are no shortcuts to radiant skin, and your skin won’t glow unless it’s healthy from within. What we’re saying is, resolve to eat healthier and you’ll see the difference in your skin and hair automatically.

4. To moisturize after a shower

The best time to moisturize is right after a shower when your skin is still damp. This helps replenish the natural oils that a hot shower often strips of. One way of never forgetting to do this is to keep your moisturizer in the bathroom so you can apply it after your bath.

5. To not pick at your face

We know it’s tempting to keep touching that zit – but stop! The dirt from your fingers transfers to your face, and that leads to breakouts. Instead, clean your hands and apply an acne-fighting cream to the zit.

6. To exfoliate regularly

Exfoliation is often the most overlooked part of a skincare regime, but that doesn’t take away from its importance. It’s important to exfoliate twice a week in order to get rid of dead skin cells that make your skin look lacklustre and flaky.

7. To take care of your hands and feet too

Your skincare regime should not end at your face. It’s very important to take care of your hands and feet too! Treat yourself to manicures and pedicures and always moisturize your hands and feet before going to bed. Trust us, they’re the first to show signs of aging, so don’t ignore them.

8. To avoid products with harsh chemicals

Harsh chemicals in cleansers and toners can actually do more harm than good. Alcohol in toners, for example, can strip your skin of moisture over time. Fortunately, more and more companies are coming up with all-natural beauty products that are gentle and better for your skin.

9. To research before buying products

It’s SO tempting to walk into a store and buy all those sweet-smelling, beautifully packaged products, isn’t it? But promise yourself that you will do your research before spending all your money on fancy skincare products. Read user reviews and then decide whether a particular product is suited for your skin type and worth the money you’ll spend on it.

10. To clean up after the gym

Sweat that dries on your body is a hotbed for bacterial growth! Head to the shower after your workout session and wash off. This will prevent the occurrence of body and back acne and other skin problems.

11. To change your pillowcase twice a month

Have you ever wondered why your acne keeps returning? Maybe the answer lies in your pillowcase! The amount of dirt and bacteria that your pillow cover collects over a few days or weeks can be very harmful for your skin.

12. To get enough sleep

When you don’t get enough sleep, not only do you look tired, your blood doesn’t flow as efficiently either. This means your skin looks dull and sallow and your eyes are puffy. Take care of your skin by making sure you get the required quota of sleep – about 8 hours – every night!

13. To reduce stress

Stress is your skin’s worst enemy. Dull complexion, frequent breakouts, under eye bags – you can credit stress for all of those! Make a conscious effort to reduce stress in 2017, to not sweat the small stuff, and your skin will thank you for it.

14. To follow a set skincare regime

Don’t be too hasty about changing your skincare routine and products. One product can often take time to work. Figure out a good skincare regime for yourself and then stick to it.

15. To drink more water of course

The best way to get glowing skin is to flush toxins out of your system and keep your skin hydrated. You can only achieve that by drinking plenty of water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

16. To not sleep with makeup on

No matter how tired you are, never sleep with your makeup on. Not only does makeup mix with the dirt and oil of your skin and cause breakouts, it can also trap the free radicals in the air that damage your skin. To avoid that, wash your face as soon as you get home and follow it up with a makeup remover to get rid of any residue.

17. To wear sunscreen every day

We can’t stress this one enough! Always wear a sunscreen – with at least SPF 30 – before you step out in order to protect your skin against the harmful UV rays of the sun. Look for non-greasy formulas that you can wear under your makeup as well.

2017 will be the year of radiant complexion once you make these small promises!
