New Zealand Shooting: Sikhs Help Victims’ Families & Prove That Humanity Is Above All

The terror attack on two mosques in central Christchurch on Friday has shook New Zealand. It is reported that 49 people were killed in the shootings and many were injured.

New Zealand is considered one of the safest countries in the world. Until Friday, the biggest mass shooting in the country happed three decades ago. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called this attack one of the darkest days in the country and announced that the gun laws will be changed now. Meanwhile, the suspect, an Australian citizen, was presented in court and the 28-year-old was sent to jail until the next hearing on April 5.

Amidst all this, prayers have poured in from different parts of the world. People are rallying together to support those affected by the shooting. The Sikh community in New Zealand is doing their bit for the victims and their families. An NGO in Aukland that’s involved in many human welfare activities, Guru Nanak Free Kitchen, is lending their hand in the time of distress in every way possible.
