Why Isn’t Shahid Kapoor Attending Padmaavat’s Success Party?

After a stormy and chaotic ride, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat has managed to become a mega-blockbuster not only in India, but across the globe.

Collecting almost INR 280 crores in India alone, the film has broken previously set records and proven its worth in revenue, despite the controversies that surrounded it during and after production.

Of course, a record like this one calls for a celebration and many congratulations are in order for the cast and crew of the movie who made it a phenomenal success.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, a party is scheduled aboard a luxury liner on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s birthday on February 24, and will feature an extensive menu of European, Indian, Italian and pan-Asian cuisines. The guest list has over 150 guests, so we know it’s going to be the talk of the town.

While Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are expected to attend, Shahid Kapoor will be giving the party a miss. The news comes at a time when rumours are rife about things not being too peachy between Shahid and Ranveer, thanks to their respective roles in the movie.

According to Mid-Day, a source close to the actor said, “It was planned weeks in advance that Shahid would celebrate his birthday (February 25) by attending a satsang in Beas, Amritsar with his family.

“But when he was invited for the Padmaavat party earlier this week, everyone assumed he would attend the bash and head out to Beas the next morning.”

There’s never any smoke without some fire, right?

However, the report also stated that Shahid wants his birthday to be a quiet affair with only his family for company, and hence decided to give the party a miss and chose to fly out to Delhi, after finishing the shooting for Batti Gul Meter Chalu. He would be leaving for Amritsar with wife Mira and daughter Misha.

The source added, “Shahid isn’t one to compromise on his family time. He wants a no-frills birthday with his close ones around him and that’s why is heading to the satsang by the Radha Soami sect.”

“He flies off to Amritsar tomorrow and will stay in Beas for a few days, before resuming his shoot,” the source finally added.

Whatever the reason may be, we do hope all is well in Bollywood ‘bro’-land!
