This Same-Sex Couple Met On A Dating App & Their Wedding Was A Blend Of Cultures

Not all dating app encounters are pleasant, but for these ladies it turned into the most beautiful meetings of their life.

It all started when Tara Sonali Miller matched with Sam Carolina Praus on a dating app. However, their first date was canceled due to some last-minute plans. It wasn’t until three months later that they reached out to each other again. This time around, they were relentless to meet even though distance came in the way. After their first meeting, things got serious pretty quick!

Eight years later the couple got hitched and celebrated their multi-cultural union in the most incredible way. Let’s take a look:

For their three-day intimate affair, Tara and Sam chose the lush green landscapes of the Mt. Hood Organic Farms in Oregon. With the help of their wedding coordinator Cassandra Cass, the couple decided on the theme “queer garden party.” It was important for them to recognise and honour their community that readily welcomed them. Tara and Sam went to lengths to make their guests feel relaxed and special during the festivities. They organised breathwork sessions, and had love notes that the attendees could take back home.

The couple also gave much thought to their outfits and accessories. Tara embraced her Indian roots and chose a hand-crafted lehenga from homegrown brand Samyaak. Sara, who comes from Venezuela, kept it minimal in her custom pant-and-vest by Designs by Thor. Heidi Artistry kept the makeup minimal and fresh and the girls opted to deck up their hands in henna too!

The most heartwarming bit was how they incorporated each other’s cultures into the celebrations. The officiant included both Indian and Venezuelan traditions during the ceremony. An adapted version of a marriage blessing from Sanskrit was recited during the exchange of vows.

Not just that, the entertainment bit too was well thought off! DJ Anjali played some stellar hits including a fusion of desi Latin, Bollywood, and bhangra music. How amazing is that?!

We maybe in 2023, but same-sex relationships continue to face the wrath of many. It’s amazing how Sam and Tara didn’t just cross that hurdle, but also beautifully blended their contrasting cultures. Here’s wishing the couple a lifetime of love, happiness and success.
