10 Romantic Movies To Watch On A Lazy Weekend With Hubby!

Snuggling up with boo on the weekends is something most of us look forward to all week long. Add a romantic movie, some pizza and pyjamas and it legit becomes the plan of our dreams. Since we represent the lazy girls club plus the romantic wives club, here’s some awesome recommendations of romantic movies to watch with him on a lazy weekend.

1. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge

Of course we had to begin with this cult classic. I mean how on earth can you not feel nostalgic with SRK and Kajol giving you serious couple goals as they romance in Europe and in those lush sarson ke khet? You may have seen this one a million times, but it’ll NEVER fail you!

2. Dil Chahta Hai

We know, we know. This one’s more about bromance but that’s the beauty of the film – while it’s super entertaining and quippy, it has also depicted love in a deep and meaningful way. Again, super nice throwback to Preity Zinta’s charming dimples and simpler times in general.

3. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na

You and bae will thoroughly enjoy this one if you were friends before you got married. The story of Rats and Meow is so adorable and you’ll find yourself rooting for them, to get together every time you watch the movie.

4. Love Aaj Kal

One of Imtiaz Ali’s best – this movie is delightfully charming. The love stories of two different generations told with the backdrop of Delhi and London always brings a smile to our faces. The underlying message of love and the ‘meant to be-ness’ of it all, makes it one of the most romantic movies.

5. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

How can we not include the movie that gave us Rahul, Anjali, and Tina – three characters that are etched in our minds forever! From the foot tapping music to the tear inducing scenes, watch this one for MAJOR nostalgia and to remind yourselves that indeed, love is friendship.

6. Jab We Met

If you didn’t fall in love with Geet and Aditya, we don’t know what you’re made of. This movie is so heartfelt and real, you can’t help but feel all the feels while watching it. Almost every girl we know has identified with Geet at some point in her life. And if you’re in the ‘Main apni favourite hoon’ category, you’ll particularly enjoy watching this with hubs.

7. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Someone give director Ayan Mukherjee an award for making a film that we can NEVER get tired of watching. Bunny and Naina’s sizzling chemistry, the beautiful locations, the entire Udaipur wedding sequence, and just the overall friendship dynamic makes this movie our generation’s main contribution to good cinema. Watch with the Bunny to your Naina to make your weekend super romantic.

8. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Once you watch this movie with bae, you’ll realize there’s so much to discover about each other. Which character does he relate to most? What does he *really* think about Kalki crashing the boys’ trip? Did Abhay do the right thing by breaking off the engagement? Not only is this movie a super fun watch with amazing characters and great dialogues, it’s also filled with pertinent lessons on love and life.

9. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Intertwine your fingers with hubs and feel blessed that you both don’t have to experience unrequited love. This movie gnaws at your soul and gets super deep at times, but it is arguably one of the most romantic movies of our time. And of course KJo has left no stone unturned to make it visually super stunning.

10. Tamasha

One of Deepika and Ranbir’s best work – this movie by Imtiaz is like watching art in motion. The story of Ved and Tara, and everything they come to mean to each other at different points in life is nothing short of beautiful. If you and him are the creative types, it’ll really touch your soul because the movie is about finding yourself as much as it is about love.
