Red Carpet Makeup Secrets: Here’s How The Celebs Look So Good

When you’re a makeup maven and you check out any of your favourite celebrities on the red carpet, the question always prevails: how does their base look so good? Speaking from experience, I’ve tried countless ways to perfect my base so that it matches up to that red carpet-level glow, and I bet you have too. But it would swell to know what these professional MUAs actually use on their celebrity clientele to make them look so bomb for these glamourous events. Thankfully, Instagram has the answer as some of the best beauty influencers finally got into the secret. Apparently, that glowing red carpet makeup base takes just 3 products and a beauty blender to recreate.

The Celebrity MUA Makeup Secret

The industry secret is out and boy, are we excited. The best way to get a gorgeous base just like those stunning celebs on the red carpet is to use a hydrating primer, a multitasking illuminator/highlighter, and a skin tint. That’s right! The key to that beautiful base doesn’t even include any foundation or concealer. As you can see in the reel makeup tutorial, this base makeup routine works and it explains why celebs never have cakey makeup when walking down the red carpet either.

3 Steps To A Celeb-Worthy Red Carpet Makeup Base

Pore For It

The first order of business is to follow a skincare routine. Your skincare should ideally include a cleanser, toner, moisturiser, and sunscreen if it is a daytime event. Now, the first step in the red carpet base look is to use a hydrating primer. The recommended primer in the audio isn’t always available in India so the next best thing is to use the budget-friendly e.l.f primer as a dupe. But really, any hydrating primer will work for this look. The main point that matters is that the primer should blur your pores, smooth out skin texture, and give you a hydrated glow. Blend a generous amount of your primer on your face and neck to get a super smooth canvas.

Mix It Up

This is our favourite part of the routine. Apply an illuminator that can also be used as a highlighter all over your face. As mentioned in the video, many celebrity MUAs love the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and that is exactly the illuminating and highlighting product that works best for this look. If you can’t manage to get that, you can use any other liquid illuminator as well. Once you’ve dotted on that product, bring out your favourite skin tint and add some of it to your skin as well. You will now have dots of the illuminator and skin tint all over your face.

Blend, Blend, Blend!

For the final step, all you need is a damp beauty blender. Saturate your makeup sponge in water or a toning mist and then bounce it on your skin. You will need to blend out both the products well so that they mix and merge directly on your skin and provide an even-toned dewy coverage. If blending it directly on your face isn’t in your skillset, squirt out both products on a clean mixing palette or on the back of your hands and then mix them together with a spatula or a makeup brush. You can then apply the mixture on your primed skin and blend it with the damp makeup sponge.
