15 Thoughts EVERY Girl Had While Watching ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’!

The much-awaited film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil released last week and I HAD to watch it. The trailer was super appealing and of course, it had the most good looking cast. I decided to spend 400 bucks from my pocket and two and a half hours of my life on this Karan Johar flick. Well, TBH, I didn’t love the the film and neither did I hate it. If I had to sum it up in one sentence, it was a nice try at Karan Johar’s part. Here are some of the reactions I had while watching Ae Dil Hai Mushkil...

1. Money, so much money!

Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is a film for the rich people, of the rich people and by the rich people. I mean, c’mon, a private jet? A trip to Paris? Bar hopping in London? Where does all the money come from? Well, who knows? Let’s just sing songs and splurge.

2. Breakup song breakup se pehle kyun?

Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) and Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) break up with their respective girlfriend and boyfriend after they party together and dance on…The Breakup Song? I mean WTF is that about?

3. Even Ranbir Kapoor can be friendzoned

If someone like Ayan can be friendzoned…I don’t even have words. I don’t think Alizeh can find anyone as hot as him, oh except Fawad Khan. Everyone loves Fawad. Except, Ranbir is really cute. Oh, but Fawad is hot too. Do you get the drift?

4. We also want an ‘Ayan’ in our life!

There were moments in the film which made me wish I had an Ayan in my life. When he sings, when he dances, when he goes out of his way just to be there for Alizeh, when he takes care of her and when he finally makes her dream come true…

5. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ki good looks, good looks and good looks! (K3G reference, geddit?)

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is indeed a Greek Goddess. Don’t know if it was all about cosmetics, but one thing I can surely say is that she looks flawless in this film. The moment she was on the screen, all the eyes were on her, even when there were different people on the screen with her.

6. #SpoilerAlert – Shah Rukh Khan won our hearts

SRK, the king of romance won our hearts in just one scene. His appearance made me go – WOAH and I was in love, all over again. I can go and rewatch this film just to watch his cameo again.

7.  #SpoilerAlert – Anushka Sharma has what?

Towards the end of the film, when you think it’s about to end, suddenly something happens…something devastating. Yeah, Anushka Sharma has cancer. I mean, what was the need KJo? Seriously, you could have NOT stretched the film and just ended it right there at that beautiful terrace.

8. Pyaar dosti hai ya pyar dosti nahi hai?

Decide Karan Johar, decide. Ages ago you made a film that made us believe love is friendship, remember? And now, we’re just confused. What do you want to say?

9. The only saving grace? The shayari and dialogues.

Apart from all the things that went wrong in the film, there were a few moments which got me through those two and a half hours. The shayari and dialogues were just amazing. From “Pyaar mein junoon hai, dosti mein sukoon hai” to “Main kisi ki zaroorat nahi, khwaish ban’na chahti hu”, I was in love.

10. Also, Arijit Singh’s voice had us swooning!

The songs in the film were just amazing. I’m sure you’ve heard them by now and out of all, my favorite was the title track. If love is a feeling, Arijit Singh is the voice to that feeling. Ranbir and Arijit took this movie to another level with this song.

11. Ranbir and Anushka were amazing too!!!

Even though, the storyline was a bit weak, I loved how beautifully all the actors performed. Ranbir has grown as an actor from Saawariya to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and it’s evident. Anushka Sharma killed it with her acting skills in this one too. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan, for the little onscreen time that they had, did complete justice to their roles.

12. Manish Malhotra’s costumes! *Hearts*

I was in love with each and every outfit that the actors wore in the film. Manish Malhotra is THE man when it comes to movies like these. The film looked super amazing because of him too. So, Manish, congrats.

13. The movie taught us about ektarfa pyaar

Ektarfa pyaar ki taqat hi kuch aur hoti hai. Auron ke rishton ki tarah yeh do logon mein nahi bat’ti. Sirf mera haq hai ispe.” – Okay, enough said.

14. Bollywood mashup – Whaaa….?

Confused? Well, don’t be. I felt Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was a mix of multiple films. Tamasha, Rockstar and Katti Batti, maybe? Think about it guys. Those Bollywood dialogue references, or or… “you can only sing if you’ve been through pyaar ka dard” and, of course, Anushka’s cancer angle.

15. Okay, so when is this going to end?

There’s always a start, middle and end to every story. But this one went way beyond to infinity. The story was stretched to an extent that it became unbearable for me. The last twenty minutes were the most difficult to survive. There was no emotion, no chemistry and I couldn’t feel a thing. After loving the first half of the film, the second half was really disappointing. All I was doing was checking the time every two seconds, wishing for the movie to end.
