Michael Kors Just Made Flip-Flops Fashion SO Much Cooler!

Comfort lovers, you are about to fall in love with fashion all over again (all thanks to Michael Kors.)

Pick a dress like you’re going to a party and a footwear like a beach is your destination. Yes, that’s what happened at Michael Kors’ Spring 2018 collection during (NYFW) New York Fashion Week. Kors’ designs were ‘all about ease’ and by taking those flip-flops to the ramp, he is making it officially, easy.

The beach vacation that you were planning is going to be fancier now because the designer has given us something to be excited about and a validated reason to flaunt our flip-flops. You can seriously wear these pieces of Michael Kors to fashion weeks, for a party at Hyatt or at a star-studded event and feel fashionable because they are now approved by both the designer and runway as the coolest fashion accessory.

Models including Kendall Jenner walked down the runway wearing beige, white and black flip-flops evoking a relaxed attitude of sarongs, kimonos, and pajamas juxtaposed with oversize menswear tailoring as well as fractional layering with chiffon, linen gauze and georgette. There were sandals as well but flip-flops are where our eyes were stuck. The pastel palette used by the designer for clothes were straight out of your beach dream.

Although, don’t forget to notice that these aren’t your luxe-for-less flip-flops. No, no, no, these are ‘ultra-luxe croc flip-flops.’ And if you feel resisted to spend more than Rs 500 for a pair then allow the wise words of Le Bon Marché’s fashion director Jennifer Cuvillier to enlighten you as she shared with WWD last September, “I think you don’t’ think of it as a price for a flip-flop, you just think of it as a price for a fashion shoe, just like two years ago we could have said ‘OK, that’s too expensive for a sneaker,’ but when Dior did a sneaker shoe, you didn’t think of it as the price of a sneaker, you considered it the price for a designer shoe.”

Makes sense, right? Whether you are on board for this cool style or not, there’s no doubt that it’s daring to make the ironic combination of party clothes with relaxed silhouettes and flip-flops make work and is not everyone’s cup of tea but Michael Kors sure seem to get it right.
