Well Deserved: Bollywood Celebs Raise A Toast To Padma Shri Winner Manoj Bajpayee

Manoj Bajpayee is one of the finest actors in Bollywood. He has given us some tremedous performances, both in positive and negative roles. After a career of more than two decades in the industry, the Sonchiraiya actor was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, by President Ramnath Kovind, in a ceremony held in New Delhi on March 16. Bajpayee was presented with this honour for his portrayal of unconventional and critically acclaimed roles.

Bajpayee was dressed in a traditional attire and was full of gratitude upon receiving the award by the president.

The 49-year-old actor took to Twitter to express his happiness on receiving the great honour. “It was an honour and a privilege sir @rashtrapatibhvn.” Talking about his award, Bajpayee said, “I have been ecstatic since the announcement of the Padma Shri and feel very honoured. My family, my friends, my fans, all of them have been sending their congratulations and love from across the globe. When a performance is judged on the basis of excellence, it’s truly amazing and the feeling of victory is so much sweeter.”

The actor further thanked all the people who helped and guided him through his journey. “This is not an honour for Manoj Bajpayee the actor only but it’s an honour for the journey of a conviction and the belief with which I have tirelessly worked towards my goal. I would really like to thank each and everyone who has contributed to this journey, my career and my life.”

Bollywood celebrities toasted his win by posting congratulatory tweets for the veteran actor.

Also present on the occasion were other Padma Shri winners, including cricketer Gautam Gambhir, actor-choreographer-director Prabhudeva, musician Shankar Mahadevan, Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri and Nambi Narayan, a renowned scientist who will soon have a biopic in his name titled Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (featuring R Madhavan).

Manoj Bajpayee is best known for his phenomenal performances in films such as Satya, Pinjar, Aligarh, Rajneeti, Sonchiraiya, Zubeidaa and the Gangs of Wasseypur series. The actor will be soon seen in The Family Man, an Amazon web series.
