After Kanye West Hints At Seeking Divorce, Kim K Breaks Silence On His Mental Illness

A lot seems to have happened since Kanye West announced his presidential run earlier this month. And while the chaotic campaign launch seems to have backing from the likes of Elon Musk, it is what Kanye’s doing in the pursuit that has several doubting his true intentions. Earlier this week, he left everyone obviously uncomfortable after what can best be described as a rambling speech in Charleston that was supposed to kickstart his White House bid.

During the speech, his problematic comments about renowned American abolitionist Harriet Tubman and how he wanted to abort North (his first child from Kim Kardashian) left everyone shocked. Recollecting his troubled childhood, the rapper ended up breaking down in tears on the stage itself. However, more commotion followed after Kanye decided to go berserk with a slew of cryptic tweets about Kim. In the tweets, he called Kim a “white supremacist”, claimed that she was trying to keep him locked up and that he’s been wanting to divorce her for some time now. The tweets were later deleted, not before generating much frenzy and speculations though.

While Kanye’s behaviour has attracted severe criticism with everyone talking about his well being, Kim K on Wednesday finally addressed the issue in a series of Instagram stories. “As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has [bipolar disorder] or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health,” Kim wrote in her story.

Kim further added in her story, “Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behavior know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor. People who are unaware or far from removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”

Throwing light on his struggles with mental health issues, she further wrote, “He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words some times do not align with his intentions.”

In her stories, she also insisted that Kanye’s disorder does not “diminish or invalidate his dreams and his creative ideas, no matter how big or unobtainable they may feel to some” and urged people to show “passion and empathy” towards the family. She concluded with a plea to destigmatize mental health struggle and give “grace” to those facing them.

It was back in 2018 when Kanye shared that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder as he called it his “superpower.” In the past month, since the announcement of his Presidential run, Kanye has made a number of statements that have people questioning if all of this is a mere publicity gimmick. Let’s see where it goes from here. That said, we hope Kanye’s doing alright and receiving proper assistance in regards to his mental health struggle.
