India Stands Strong Against The Culprits In The Kathua Rape Case, Trial Begins Today

After witnessing the unjustified rally in favour of rapists in Kathua rape case, India has raged in favour of an 8-year-old child Asifa like never before. What should have been an open and shut case with a quick arrest and sentence, turned into a political affair when a rally to protect the rapists was carried out by Hindu Ekta Manch which was led by two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members of Mehboob’s cabinet. Soon after, the country saw both kinds of protest on a larger level – protest on social media and public protests. Multiple protests are emerging all over India including the metro cities against the culprits.

The Trial for the case has begun and the crime branch was to hand over the notices issued to the Jammu Bar Council as well as Kathua Bar Council for appearing before the Supreme Court on 19 April. The victim’s father petitioned a shift trial to Chandigarh in the court and the murder accused pleaded ‘not guilty’, they demanded a narco test. Now, the court has shifted the next hearing to 28th April.

The protests still continue.

Let’s hope that #JusticeForAsifa is seen soon!
