Just Like Janhvi: 9 Rajasthani Style Desi Outfits We’re Stealing From ‘Dhadak’!

With Janhvi Kapoor’s first film lined up for release on the 20th of July, we’re sure everyone will be lining up to see her on the big screen. Even though Dhadak has received a lot of backlash for not doing its inspiration, the Marathi film, Sairat, justice, we have a positive verdict on the fashion scene in the movie.

From what we’ve seen so far, most of the film is set in Rajasthan… and as we’ve already seen, the costume styling stands true to the chosen location. This is the first time in a long time we’ve seen so many different aspects of Rajasthani style Indian dressing in one movie. Janhvi Kapoor carries the looks supremely well and we can’t help but wish we had more Leheriya, Bandhani and mirror work in our wardrobe.

Sigh. It isn’t too late, though. We’re so inspired by Janhvi’s look in Dhadak, we’ve already found some really pretty Rajasthani style pieces. Here are 8 Indian looks we love and how you can get the look with just a click:

1. Shining Bright

This Rajasthani look is spot on for summer, isn’t it? We love the way Janhvi carries multiple prints and colours in this outfit. Style the look with silver jhumkas and Kolhapuri chappals.

2. The White Way

Janhvi running through the doorways of a beautiful palace in this white mirror work lehenga is something we haven’t been able to stop thinking about. Rajasthani mirror work and splashes of red, we found a shaadi-worthy lehenga that will do the trick for you.

POPxo recommends: Embroidered Cotton Silk Lehenga (Rs 9,242) by Utsav Fashion

3. Pitch Black

Don’t know about you but there’s something about the black and rani pink combination that is contemporary as well as classic to us. This printed black piece will get you Janhvi’s look from this Dhadak scene, guaranteed.

POPxo recommends: Black Printed Anarkali (Rs 1,104) by Sangria

4. Mirror Mirror

Embellished jackets over kurtis first captured our attention in Bunty Aur Babli. Since then they’ve come and gone. Now thanks to Janhvi, they’re back on our minds. We found a statement desi jacket that you will fall in love with. You’re welcome.

5. Back To Banaras

Seems like Banarasi lehengas are also making a comeback. It’s interesting how Janhvi is working neutral shades like black, cream and navy with multiple colours in Dhadak. Same is the case with this lehenga in the poster. Here’s the dupe we found:

POPxo recommends: Black Mirror Work Lehenga With Blouse (Rs. 3,456) by Mirraw

6. Lilac Love

Lilac is a refreshing colour on traditional Indian clothes. Especially when combined with yellow, mirror work and Jaipuri print. Even though it’s a given that this particular piece will be hard to find, we found a lilac piece you can pair with yellow palazzos and a mirror work dupatta. Gotta love hacks!

POPxo recommends: Printed Flared Kurta With Floral Embroidery (Rs 720) by Ajio

7. Minty Fresh

This is a look easy to recreate but it still stood out to us. This combination of pink and mint is summer friendly and perfect for everyone, from college girls to working girls. Check out this kurti we spotted:

POPxo recommends: White Green Printed A-line Kurti (Rs 759) by All About You from Deepika Padukone

8. True Blue

This year’s biggest colour obsession, Indigo, also made it into the movie. Mixing and matching prints in this cool shade of blue is the perfect summer trick to learn from Janhvi in Dhadak. Get the look with this print on print kurti:
