The Right Way To Give Yourself A Brazilian Wax At Home!

So, you’ve decided to give yourself a Brazillian wax at home? Good for you girl! It not only takes courage to wax your own hoo-ha, but patience too. While shaving is pain-free, quick and easy, waxing gives you longer and better results. You’ll notice that after getting waxed down there, your skin will start to feel soft like a baby’s bottom! That’s because when hair is removed from the root, it also removes dead layers of skin. Plus, unlike shaving, your hair will not grow back after 3-5 days, but after 3-4 weeks! If you’re clueless about how to do Brazilian wax at home, there are two ways to go about it. One, buy the kit from any retail store and two, make one at home using the ingredients from your kitchen.

If You Buy It From The Store

Step 1: Take a waxing strip and cut it into smaller strips.

POPxo Recommends: Sleek Almond Oil & Vitamin E Waxing Strips (Rs 180)

Step 2: Wash your bikini area with warm water and wipe it with a towel to keep the area dry, clean and smooth.

Step 3: Now, sit in a butterfly position (make sure that the soles of your feet meet, your body is facing the mirror and the room is lit well so you are able to see properly which area you’re waxing).

Step 3: Wipe your hoo-ha, apply some baby powder to the area and then trim the hair to about 1/4th inch long.

Step 4: While you may be tempted to start from the middle, we urge you to start from the edges and later make your way in. You see, the middle area is the place where the hair is thicker and the skin is far more sensitive. Hence, be gentle!

Step 5: After placing the waxing strip, wait for 30 seconds and gently pull in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

Step 6: For the ‘hard-to-see-and-reach-areas’ what you can do is keep one leg in a butterfly position and the other one up in the air. Use your fingers to feel your way around and once you find the patch of hair, place the wax strip on it and pull it off after 30 seconds. (For stubborn and tiny hair, use a tweezer to remove them)

POPxo Recommends: TS Designer Tweezer (Rs 56)

Step 7: Once you’re done, apply coconut oil to the area and later wash well with warm water. This helps to remove any wax residue.

Step 8: If you spot any redness, you should apply some aloe vera gel. Also, for the next 24 hours, avoid wearing synthetic underwear as the material could irritate your skin. Cotton underwear and garments should work.

If You Make One At Home

Step 1: To make your own sugar wax at home, add 2 cups of white sugar, 1/4 cup of lemon juice and water into a stainless steel pan.

Step 2: On a medium flame, use a spoon to stir and blend all the ingredients.

Step 3: The moment the colour of the mixture changes from transparent to honey brown, turn off the flame, and pour the mixture into a glass jar.

Step 4: Leave it to cool down and only once it’s lukewarm is it ready to be used.

Step 5: In the meantime, you can apply baby powder to the area.

POPxo Recommends: Johnson’s Baby Powder Blossoms (Rs 36)

Step 6: You’re ready to start waxing. Follow the same directions as mentioned above.
