First Comes The Workout

Being blessed with a naturally lean figure, PC’s fitness mantra is all about being toned and healthy and not to shrink drastically as that could end up being harmful, we couldn’t agree more. She isn’t much of a gym-rat (phew!) and doesn’t spend more than an hour at the gym a few times a week. Instead, she swears by yoga and its positive, relaxing effects on the body and mind. When she does hit the gym, her workouts usually consist of resistance training instead of weight training like push-ups, reverse lunges, bench jumps, crunches and 60-second plank holds. Priyanka also likes running, power walking and spinning as alternate workouts.

1. Yoga For Beginners

Begin with this 20-minute exercise a few times a week to strengthen your spine, release tension from your back, shoulders and neck and to improve flexibility. You’re guaranteed to feel relaxed and super rejuvenated.

2. Reverse Lunges

This is an excellent workout to strengthen your lower body and improve flexibility. If you’re looking to tone up your thighs and build that booty, two sets of 25 reps is what you should be doing at least thrice a week.

3. Reverse Crunches

Reverse crunches are different from regular crunches as they target the lower abdominal muscles unlike the latter, which are about strengthening the upper abdominal muscles. Once you’re in position, make sure that its only your knees moving and not your shoulders or the rest of your body.

It’s All About The Diet

PC is a non-fussy eater, she loves her ghar ka khanna and being a true Punjabi, loves to gorge on paranthas but is very particular about avoiding oily food. Dal, sabzis, chapattis, salad, fish and lots of fruits are what her regular diet consists of. Fresh juices and drinking lots and lots of water is the secret to her beauty and enviable body. Of course, not all of us are lucky enough to have her high metabolism and tendency to not put on weight, so make it a point to not eat carbs post 6 or 7 pm. Also, indulge in your fav dishes every week as everybody deserves a cheat meal to curb those cravings and rev up your metabolism.

Fresh Salads

A yummy way of loading up on fresh veggies, just mix them all up in a bowl and add a simple, light lemon dressing to make it a delicious meal. It’s a great way of filling up on nutrients and minerals like zinc and iron and a non-fat way of feeding your appetite. A rich salad and soup is a great idea for dinner and will help you stick to that no-carb rule in the pm to get you closer to that slim and trim fit figure.

Dal

White meats like chicken and fish are great sources of protein and are what every gym trainer would advise you to eat. But if you’re a vegetarian, then your pulses are probably the best substitute when it comes to amazing sources of protein. If you don’t already, then start polishing off a bowl of dal every single day at lunchtime. It’s an easy to follow rule, after all we Indians love our dals. Other amazing vegetarian sources of protein are tofu, soy, quinoa and chia seeds.

Yummy Fruits

Fresh, seasonal fruits – they are healthy and take absolutely no time to prepare. Though they are high in sugar, they make for a filling snack and are rich sources of essential calcium and vitamins. A plate full of your favourite fruits every morning is the best kind of breakfast and will leave you energized, healthy and feeling fresh for the rest of the day. Remember, it’s always better to eat them instead of have them in the form of juices as they lose most of their nutritional properties after going through the blender.  You can’t get fit without munching on fresh fruits regularly.

Plenty of Fluids

Make it a point to drink a glass of any fresh vegetable juice every day and watch your health and skin improve noticeably. Also, loading up on H2O is obvious but super necessary. Priyanka Chopra downs glasses of water through the day (way more than 10 glasses) and that’s probably her number one secret to fitness.   Also, if you had any doubts about just how amazingly fit Piggy Chops is, you HAVE to watch this video of PC completing Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang dare of doing a headstand and push-ups. Obviously, our girl completed the dare without breaking out a sweat and in heels, that too!
