Get it on: Bridal makeup diaries for home functions!

Contouring is a wedding makeup technique that makeup artists swear by. It’s a way to enhance the best features of your face to make it look sharper. As a bride-to-be or even a newlywed, we are sure you have a lot of functions to attend. Well, you don’t need a makeup artist for all of them. Our bridal makeup guide to contouring at home will help you out! Don’t aim for extreme contouring. That’s very tough to master. Instead, teach yourself how to contour for a subtly sculpted look with these easy bridal makeup tips for brides!

Step 1: Gather your tools before you start your wedding makeup

Gather your supplies, ladies. You’ll need a makeup blender sponge, a primer, your regular foundation, a contouring stick that’s two shades darker than your skin tone, a concealer and a highlighter. It might seem like a formidable list, but it’s not as tough as it sounds.

Step 2: Prime your face

This step is important since you’ll be wearing a lot of makeup on your face. In order to ensure that you don’t sweat it away, begin by priming with a face primer. A good primer will also give your skin a subtle glow, which goes a long way when it comes to bridal makeup.

Step 3: Give yourself an even base

Good bridal makeup begins by applying foundation to your entire face. This will give you an even base to work on. A liquid foundation is easier to blend. Simply dot it around your face and use a damp sponge to pat it in. This gives a cleaner effect as compared to spreading with your fingers.

Step 4: Map your face

The next (quite important) step is to map your face with your dark contour stick. To achieve a well-defined look, you’ll need to trace your contour stick over your temples, on the hollow just beneath your cheekbones, and on either side of your nose in two parallel lines.

Step 5: Conceal and highlight

Top bridal makeup idea: Take your concealer and dot it under your eyes to conceal any dark circles and brighten up the under eye area, and around your lips, where the skin often tends to be darker. Then, dab your highlighter on the inner corner of your eyes, your cheekbones and your cupid’s bow. This will highlight the high points of your face.

Step 6: Blend it all in

Take your damp beauty blender and tap over your contour colour, concealer and highlighter to blend it all in. Tap in circular motions over the colour with the bigger end of the sponge to blend it in well. These bridal makeup tips also help you achieve a uniform look. Gently dab with a damp sponge gives a more even and natural finish.

Step 7: Set with some setting powder

Finally, to make your contouring last longer and get that luminous glow, dust some translucent setting powder on your face with your powder brush. These bridal makeup tips will ensure your look lasts through the function!
