12 Easy Everyday Habits To Make You A Happier Person!

In this world of distress and chaos, “how to be happy?” is the question which all of us seek an answer to. While buying a new outfit or a fancy handbag might make you happy, the joy is often short-lived, right? That’s why we have put together these 12 easy things that you should incorporate in your lives to make happiness happen every day.

1. Eat healthy

Let us get the most obvious point out of the way first. You are what you eat, remember? And yes, pizza is amazing. But no, it is not healthy, even though it has vegetable toppings. Several researches have shown that the food we eat has an impact on our emotional and mental well-being. So don’t skip your meals, eat nutritious food and say hello to a happier you.

2. Daily to-do list

Create daily lists of the tasks that you need to finish off that day, and at the end of the day, put a check on all the ones that you have managed to accomplish. Yes, there are going to be some days when you won’t be able to check off every single thing on your list, but you could still feel happy about the fact that you aren’t stuck and getting nothing done.

3. Volunteer when you can

Take some time out and volunteer with an NGO, most of them are rather understaffed and could always do with some extra help. There are few things in life that can possibly compare with the joy of being able to help out another person – or animals, for that matter.

4. Exercise is essential

All of us know how important it is to exercise daily. Yet, for most of us, the resolution of getting fit fizzles out within a week of watching that *inspirational* workout routine on YouTube. Exercising regularly not only keeps you fit but also happy as it helps reduce tension and boosts up your energy level. And if you absolutely dread the idea of going to a gym, you can always start with talking a walk.

5. Accept your ‘flaws’

All of us have a warped notion of what our bodies need to look like. And while it is going to take a lot longer for us to completely love our bodies just the way they are, we can at least start by not completely hating the person we see in the mirror.

6. Forgive yourself

It is okay to make mistakes; it is okay to fail sometimes. They only make you human. Strive for perfection, sure, but cut yourself some slack if things didn’t go exactly as you planned. Draw lessons from them and move on!

7. Learn something new

Read a book or an article on a subject that interests you. Watching informative YouTube videos counts too! So go ahead, learn Spanish, or bake yourself a cake in a mug. These little things can lift your mood up!

8. Put that phone down

Disconnect so that you can connect with those around you. Ask your parents about their day, sit with your grandparents, and notice how happy it makes them and, in turn, you.

9. Save a little

Remember how you had a piggy bank when you were a kid? Well, time to bring it back. Make sure that you put in some money (loose change works too) and save it for a rainy day, or to travel to some place that you’ve always wanted to. Baby steps will help you get there sooner!

10. Express gratitude

Take some time out to write about the things that you are grateful for, every day. You can maintain a journal for the same or make a gratitude jar to store all the memories that make you smile.

11. Dance or sing it out

Seriously. And always do it like nobody’s watching. Both will help you express emotions you didn’t even know you were holding in!

12. Compliment someone and genuinely mean it.

It will make their day and yours too. It’s all about karma, isn’t it? The vibes you put out into the world will find a way to come back to you!

P.S.: We hope this helps, but if you find yourself undergoing a major emotional crisis, please do reach out to a medical professional.
