Then vs Now: You Wouldn’t Believe How These Actresses Looked When They First Joined Bollywood

Remember Priyanka Chopra from Andaaz or when she’d just won the Miss World crown? Or Kareena Kapoor from Refugee? These actresses have obviously changed over time and look nothing like they did when they began their acting careers. So I decided to pick our all-time favourite ones and compare what they looked like when they entered Bollywood to how they look right now, according to their Instagram profiles. Hold your hearts, because they’ve truly aged like fine wine!

1. Deepika Padukone

From her modelling days back in her late teens to her debut in Om Shanti Om in 2006, Deepika Padukone has not just evolved into a style icon but also become a spokesperson for mental health awareness in India with her initiative, Live Love Laugh Foundation.

2. Kareena Kapoor Khan

This Kapoor kid began her career opposite Abhishek Bachchan in Refugee, however, the film didn’t get her the appreciation she expected and she went on to do a string of flops. Now, the actress is one of the best in Bollywood and is happily married to the Pataudi Prince, Saif Ali Khan.  

3. Anushka Sharma

Remember the cute bubbly girl from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi? It seems so long ago that Anushka Sharma made her debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan a decade ago. Now, the actress is one of the most sought after in Bollywood and has even ventured into other aspects of film making with her home production, Pari.  

4. Priyanka Chopra Jonas

This once Miss World at 18 is now an international sensation. A singer, actor and producer, she is making a mark worldwide with her talent. She recently tied the knot with the teen heartthrob Nick Jonas and moved to LA to expand her Hollywood career. 

5. Alia Bhatt

This star kid made her debut with the Karan Johar film, Student Of The Year not too long ago. But Alia Bhatt has come a long way in proving her worth since. She has grown as an actor and her recent film, Gully Boy was a box-office success. 

6. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

A career spanning more than two decades long, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may not be in as many movies as we’d like anymore but she is still one of the most gorgeous and graceful women in the world. 

7. Shruti Haasan

In 2009, this star kid and child actor made her Bollywood debut with Luck, but maybe Bollywood was just not her calling because after a few movies she decided to concentrate on other aspects of her life. She still models and does small significant roles in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies however, she spends a majority of her time in America and is trying to focus on her music. 

8. Vidya Balan

She made her debut with Hum Paanch on Zee TV in 1995 and the actress hasn’t looked back since. Vidya Balan is known for picking substance over style and has always done movies that thrived her acting talent. 

9. Katrina Kaif

Salman Khan discovered Katrina Kaif when she was a 19-year-old model. She began her acting career with Boom in 2003, maybe not the best film in hindsight but her graph has only gone upward since then. 

10. Karisma Kapoor

The most experienced actress on this list, Karisma or as we know her, Karishma Kapoor began her career at just 17 years of age with Prem Qaidi. She has since inspired three generations with her sense of style and poise. She was last seen in Karan Johar’s Bombay Talkies in 2013.
