4 Super Easy Ways To Protect Your Skin From Pollution This Diwali!

With Diwali right around the corner, the preparations to get your home, outfit, and gifts in order tends to take a lot out of you. Not to mention, this is usually the time where you’re always out and about. All the pollution, dirt and dust get caught up in your skin, making it look dull and fatigued. While you might already have a pretty outfit planned, your skin may be feeling a little lacklustre.  How do you ensure your skin looks as bright as the fairy lights? Use these awesome Diwali skin care tips to prep and pamper your skin before, during and after the festive season and you’ll be lighting up every room you walk into!

Psst… This comes with a wholesome list of all the products you need stash by your bedside to sparkle and shine.

1. Double Cleanse

All the pollution and dirt clogs up your skin, making it look dull. The best way to ensure that your skin and your pores are squeaky clean would be to double cleanse. Once you get home, use a cleansing oil or micellar water to get rid of all your makeup and skincare products. Follow this up with a cleanser based on your skin type. If you have oily skin, use a cleanser that deep cleanses your pores. If you have dry skin, use a hydrating cleanser.

POPxo Recommends: Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleansing Water (Rs 175) and Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam (Rs 650) and Innisfree Olive Real Cleansing Foam (Rs 750)

2. Exfoliate

To maintain that soft, glowing skin all over, it is important to give your whole body a good scrub. This will ensure that your skin doesn’t have any dead skin cells and doesn’t look dry or flaky. A great fuss-free DIY face and body scrub can be made using walnut shell powder and body wash. Combine 2 tbsp of walnut shell powder and 2 tbsp of body wash/face wash in a bowl. Use this to exfoliate your skin! You’ll be feathery soft in no time. Don’t forget to moisturise after.

POPxo Recommends: Walnut Shell Powder (Rs 189)

3. Mask and Multi-Mask

You want to indulge in a good mask every week or so. Given the pollution and the amount of makeup you would be wearing during the festive season, a sulfur face mask will work wonders for your skin! Here’s why you need sulfur in your skincare routine. If you have certain areas that require a extra TLC, feel free to multi-mask.

POPxo Recommends: Dr Sheth’s Clarifying Sulphur Face Mask (Rs 749) and the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask – Hydrating (Rs 700)

4. Insta-Facials

Don’t have the time to indulge in an extensive beauty routine? Don’t worry! That’s where your dermatologist steps in. Head over to your dermatologist and ask them for a quick microdermabrasion facial. It will get rid of all the dead skin cells on your face while leaving your skin looking soft and bright. A lot of dermatologists offer Insta-facials too. They’re meant to be a quick 20-minute rejuvenation facial. Results last for anywhere between 1-3 weeks.

If you’re in Mumbai – head over to Dr Sheth’s Clinics or Dr Jamuna Pai’s clinics for a quick fix.

If you’re in Delhi – Head over to Dr Kiran Lohia or Dr Siddharth Garekar’s in Gurgaon.
