Hair Perfume: The Game-Changing Beauty Product You Didn’t Know You Needed!

In the world of beauty trends, hair perfumes are the new black – but opinion is divided. Some people can’t get enough, while others are left scratching their heads. But fear not, today we’ll be diving in headfirst to sniff out the truth behind hair perfumes and whether your locks (and wallets) can handle a new addition to an already extensive ‘getting ready’ routine.

First, What Exactly Is Hair Perfume?

A hair perfume is exactly what it sounds like – a perfume for your hair. It’s a light, fragrant mist crafted with your hair’s health in mind. So unlike body fragrances, this one is made up of gentler ingredients that take extra care to benefit your hair. They are usually water-based with only a small amount of alcohol.

Hair Perfume vs. Regular Perfume

The difference is pretty basic: hair perfume boasts a lighter scent profile and includes nourishing ingredients to keep your hair looking glossy and hydrated. Additionally, these types of perfumes are water-based, so they won’t weigh your hair down or leave it feeling crunchy. And there’s no sticky residue, either. Honestly, regular perfume, with its high alcohol content could never!

Plus, no matter your hair type, there’s a hair perfume out there for you. From oily to fine, dry to damaged, everyone can find their fragrance soulmate, adding both freshness and nourishment without any heaviness.

How To Use It

Apply your hair perfume after all your styling products are in – when your hair is dry. Hold the bottle about 6-8 inches away and lightly mist from the mid-lengths to the ends, avoiding the scalp for a natural feel. If you want some extra volume, flip your hair upside down and give a quick spray.

Use your fingers to gently spread the scent evenly through your hair. For a scent that lasts longer, use hair products like shampoo or conditioner with a similar fragrance. If the scent fades, a light reapplication will do the trick. Choose lighter fragrances for daytime and save the richer ones for evening events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Favourite Hair Perfumes

The Hair Perfume by Nish Hair is one of the first ones I’ve tried and it’s stayed with me. The refreshing scent is long-lasting and stays on longer than most of my Body Shop body perfumes which is insane. It’s super easy to use and does not change the texture of your hair in the slightest!

A brand that never seems to miss – Sol de Janeiro, also has their own hair mist in their iconic Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62 Vanilla & Salted Caramel fragrance. It’s a little pricey but totally makes you smell like the most indulgent dessert ever and works amazingly if you have the rest of their products.

If these are a little over budget (and understandably so) you can try the Brillare Ceramide Hair Perfume Love which has notes of jasmine, saffron, and cedar wood. The formula contains ceramides that add to the overall shine and health of your hair.

Our Thoughts

While hair perfumes offer a specialised formula, splurging on this extra product boils down to personal preference and budget. The novelty of a new product is always tempting, but not always worth it – so it’s not an absolute must-have if your current fragrance lineup is already doing the job beautifully!

But the thing is, I love indulging in a good hair perfume because it’s like the cherry on top of a perfect hair day. The allure of walking through a breeze and leaving a trail of your favourite scent is not understated, trust me.
